I know I haven't been around for a while - forgive me! I was busy having a baby:grin:. JK!! I am so seriously considering relaxing again - since I now have an 8 week old, my hair has taken a backseat in priority and I haven't been paying it the attention it needs. It was much easier when I was relaxed because I could easily go to any shop and get a wash and set. And I miss having straight hair sometimes (I don't blow out very often at all). I am still on the fence though. Enjoy the pics!! Oh and I added a pic of my baby to share with you ladies - you guys are always so supportive, you feel like family!!

Your hair looks all healthy, thick and full! Shoot, guess I better go have me a darn baby too!:lol:

The little one is a cutie too!!!:)
 
Girl don't perm it. As you can see you can get the look without the commitment.

I love your hair in the avatar... is that a blow out? I've been trying for weeks to figure out what one is.

BTW, happy belated birthday. The only reason I'm wishing you that is because your birthday is the day before mine! :rofl:

@Alli: Girl you know we started this journey together. Did you ever go to Liana for the texturizer touchup? I did!!

@Curlee: Girl, I know, I know - it's just that before, when I was relaxed, I was able to get the look wothout them trying to fry my scalp with the blowdryer!! You should have seen me in the chair, cringing every other second.

@Blossomm: Yup that's a blow out - it's just a regular old blowdry but with their round brush and that hot a-- dryer, they get your hair straight!!

I never got a chance to! Did you have a good experience with her? Obviously you did if you went for a touch up! Please tell me in detail how she is cause I will be trying to get my hair done in January! Thanks!

Girl no need to use a relaxer, ur hair is fine like this, I like!!

Trini your texturized hair pattern is gorgeous. I wouldn't relax but if it's more convenient what can I say....baby comes first.

am i asking a stupid question? is that why no one is answering my question as to what a dominican blw out is. is it something you can acheive yourself. i know a couple ladies on the board do it, so one of you just post an answer. PLEASE.

Awwww, thanks everyone. I am still thinking about keeping the texturizer. With my hair, I need to pay it the utmost special attention while texturized for it to behave right, lots of CW, moisturising deep conditioners, lots of water based, creamy products and I hate going to the round the way salons because everytime I walk in, the stylist look at me like I'm crazy and want to suggest a "perm, mami". I don't even think of going to local AA salons.I can't afford to go on a regular basis to the stylist(s) I've been going to who know about texturizers. And I'm too short on time and energy with a newborn to devote myself to my hair so I figure I can relax because I surely didn't need to spend a lot of time or money on my hair when I was relaxed and it was still very healthy. Maybe I'll try leaving my relaxer on a little longer on my next touchup to reduce the bulk of my hair and have it be a little more manageable for me at home. We'll see.

@sassy: A Dominican blowout is simply a blowdry. Usually at a Dominican salon, you can get a wash and set and when you're dry, you may choose to just wrap (also called a dooby) and go which is what I used to do when I had just gotten a relaxer and for the first 4-5 weeks after. Or you can have them blow you out after the rollerset which they do with a round brush and a blowdryer. Typically in AA salons, I have found that they will put on a comb attachment to blow you out, then have to flat iron and then use a curling iron to bump the ends - WAAAAAAY too much heat!! At Dom. salons, they achieve the same look with just a brush and a dryer hence the popularity of th Domincan blow out. This also helps some people stretch their relaxers past the traditional 8-10 week mark because as you can see on my head, they can get new growth alomst bone straight like the relaxed hair and they're pretty inexpensive (at least in NY). I know at the Dom. salons I have been too, most women who have been going there for a while have pretty, healthy hair. HTH!!
