I've been wearing my hair pressed for a week, so tonight i decided to do the usual intensive treatments that i always do before and after a press , which includes major conditioning and oils...only this time (for the first time i tried the Shea Butter) i have to say this stuff is THICK and HEAVY... heavier than the heaviest grease . of course im heavy handed on all products so i soaked my hair in it....but what i wanna know is does this stuff rinse out easily or will it take like 20 shampoos to get it out?? im only doing this as an overnight treatment and will be rinsing it out tommorow.... it feels so heavy..good, but heavy..i can see now Shea Butter might just be good for a treatment (although it feels like its just sitting heavily on my hair not really doing anything) , not as a hairdress , at least not how i used it.

I only use a little shea butter mixed with olive oil. It goes a long way, and is expensive so I've never drowned my hair in it.

If it is sitting on your head, you may have used too much and you may have not had damp hair before you put it on. I like to actually heat it before I put it on damp hair, and it works great. (Although I don't always heat it- I heard too much heating can destroy its properties.)

It washes out incredibly easily for me.

oh ok, well girl this was my first time using it...but your right its a little too expensive to be drowning my hair in it...and yep its sitting on my head lol...and i did use it on dry hair...so its better to use on wet hair, mixed with oil? girl i wasnt knowin.....but it does seem pretty heavy...i plan to do a conditioner wash tommorow(well today now) , but i dont know if conditioner alone will cut it to get it all out...it feels good, just heavy. i figured it would still work on dry hair.....

I just purchased some. I mixed it with olive oil and used it sparingly for my twist out. A little goes a long way. Don't know if I'd use it as a hot oil treatment or overnight treatment though. I like lighter oils for that.

I use it every other day...sparingly on each twist...

I got an 8 oz tub for $5.00 @ www.fromnaturewithlove.com
It washes out with conditioner very easily.

I think if it feels heavy...you may be using too much...shea butter melts almost instantly in your hand...so it you put a dime size amount in your palm...rub it together to get it to melt...and then spread it all over your hair...it should be enough to lubricate your hair...without feeling heavy.

When I add shea to each twist...the amount is about the size of one of these smilie faces

I mix mine with olive oil and apply it to my strands after surging maybe every other day. I never thought to use it as an over night treatment. But it just might work out, even though you feel it's just sitting on your head, you never know until you have completed what you are doing to see if really works. Let us know how it works out.

well its definitely rich and thick and heavy. i think its good as an overnight treatment , from what i can tell, i still havent done anything with it yet though. but i think what someone said about mixing it with oil (like you just said) and using it on wet hair will make a big difference

the from nature with love one is refined, im pretty sure the consistency of that would be different (creamier and lighter) than the unrefined....this stuff is heavy for real, i got it from Nassabb. even taking some and rubbing it in my hand, it was still thick and heavy...i just think it might work better on wet hair..what im gonna do is go wet up my hair and work it through some and let it sit for a while, then do a conditoner wash and see if i can actually get it all out lol...i did use ALOT...but then i use ALOT of everything , unless im trying to hold a press, i let my hair drink things up and be smothered in stuff, i was just surprised at how heavy this was

I agree with trying the wet hair option. I have pure, unrefined shea butter from www.natureswildchild.com . This is how I use it. After my hair dries, it feels super-soft and moisturized - even in low temperatures. I love this stuff. BTW, I'm way heavy-handed too.

ok i just took my hair down , and it was all hard and stuck together, ewww but i put my head under the faucett , not really doing the rinsing thing but more just wetting it....and all i can sayyyyy is ahhhhhh! much much better...my comb just went gluiding through my hair with it wet with the shea butter in it...i added just a little jojoba oil and it feels great now....so im'a leave this in a while and then do the condtioner wash and report back again....so yes shea butter is better on wet hair lol...now why didnt i think to ask here first? but its still might of done some good bein on dry hair overnight, ya never know. but so far so good on the wet hair...its still heavy though....just have to see if i can actually get most of it out with the co wash.
