Ladies, I have recently given my life to the lord and need help. As much as I try, I don't understand the Bible the way I want to. Where do I start? How do I learn? I am so hungry for what is to come walking in the path of Righteousness and I want to minister to others but I feel like i'm falling short. What do I do? When I pray, how do I pray properly? Right now, i feel like i'm just having conversations and missing out. Sorry y'all, I really want to stay on the right path. I no longer listen to JUNK on the radio- instead I listen to gospel and praise and worship. I pray now for everything!!! I tithe better ( no more toonies and lonies (change), i'm talking proper tithing). When will I GET IT?????? Am I not doing something...please help!
Welcome to the Family, Determine3
The first thing to remember in your walk with the Lord, is 'Never, ever, ever, give up.' For you will have challenges, but none of them will out number the blessings and the measure of Love that God has for you. So, no matter what comes along in life, hold on to the loving arms of Jesus and stay there with every care.
Don't worry about understanding the
Bible, just keep reading, for the more you read, the more you will understand. It's a process, that's all. Each day, just ask the Lord to 'lead you' or ask, "Father, please give me a word for today." He will. Make note of it and then meditate upon that word, until you feel what God is speaking to you.
There are several Bible translations. This website allows you to read Bible scriptures in several formats which help give you a better understanding of what is being said.

When you don't understand what something means, just create a post here and someone will respond.
Another way to grow closer to the Lord is by having a Devotional book. There are many, but there are also online devotionals which are very helpful and many can be delivered to your email address each day.
My personal favorites are:

www.dailyword.com
www.rbc.org

An excellent bood to have in your library is "The Purpose Driven Life", by Rich Warren. It's filled with so much encouragement and there are several other books in his 'purpose' series, such a journal, devotional and other materials. The website is
www.purposedrivenlife.com. Here are reading materials:

Another way is listening to 'worship music' each day and to Christian radio programs. I totally recommend these programs:
Focus on the Family (Dr. James Dobson)
www.family.org
Family Life Today (Bob Rainey)
www.fltoday.org
Turning Point (Dr. David Jeremiah)
www.turningpointonline.org)
CBN (The 700 Club - Pat Robertson)

I don't want to overwhelm you with too much. But know that we are always here for you.
God bless you, for truly God has added another precious and beautiful flower of life to His garden. He's added you.
