Underprocessed Issues

Hey Guys,

I have been having an issues with the middle of my head always seeming to be under proccessed after a relaxer. I was a user of Oraganic Root Stimulator No Lye relaxer since it came out (so years and years and years). I started noticing maybe end of 2007 beginning of 2008 that the middle part of my head like a big circular area was not relaxed like the rest of my head. I thought maybe it was a one time thing but it has since continuedl. I made a decision to switch to a lye relaxer after hearing how no lye can be drying over time and I do find that my hair has been drier. SO anyways I switched to Silk Elements Coarse formula(my hair is super thick). Its been perfect my hair is shinier and waay softer. Yesterday was my second relaxer using SE Lye. Most of my head has turned out amazing but this middle area is underprocessed.

I self relax..well my mother puts it in for me and we always start with this area first since I started noticing the under processing. Even though this area of hair gets the longest amount of relaxer time it's still under processed.

Could it just be my hair or could I possibly be doing something wrong? Is anyone else having the same issue? Please help. Thanks

I could have wrote this post myself:yep:- I have the exact same issue, in the exact same spot. The middle back section never processes like the other areas of my head.

It sounds like it's just your hair, who knows maybe our body chemistry's are different I don't know.

I also tend to start my relaxers in this section because it is the most resistant area- but I secretly wonder if this area is in all actuality overprocessed. Isn't it frustrating:wallbash:?

Does your Mom smooth your relaxer, and if so does she use her fingers or the back of the comb?

Yeah, its sooo frustrating. She smooths with her fingers and the back of the comb lol. We try like everything. I really just think its my hair.

Hey Smiley- I just wanted to share something that worked for me in the hopes that it may work for you too. Since my last post in this thread, once a week without fail I would clarify that one resistant area with Aloe Rid. I would "grease" the Aloe Rid in the scalp in that one area. My last relaxer I figured that it would revert like it always did- but it didn't. I normally clarify/chelate once a month.

For me I think this worked because this one area I am always slathering product on to "tame" it, and I really feel that this one area of my hair and scalp is different. I read some where that a chelating poo helps to remove minerals and other toxins from the scalp. I take daily medications and I always thought that one reason for my hair resistance in general is due to the medications that I take. Sweating is one way the body gets rid of toxins, and I felt that there had to be a biological reason (maybe more sweat gland in that one area?)that I could not get this one area to process like the others. I know that I have completely over analyzed this. It may not work for every one, but it may help a small subset of people here.

I said all that to say, I think the Aloe Rid helped to keep that one section clarified and allowed the New Growth to better accept the relaxer. HTH.
