hey ladies...HELP!!!! I need some advice on what to do about this situation. I had my natural hair relaxed on Saturday...it has been natural for 6 + years. The ends didn't become as straight as I would have liked it to. The hair dresser said this is happens sometimes when hair has been in it's natural state for so long...the hair is basically resisting the relaxer....told me to come back in two weeks to have the ends only processed again at No charge.......what do you guys think about this?? Isn't two weeks too soon??? I was pretty satisfied with it for the first couple of days as it was light and fluffy and had some body to it....but last night when I went to apply some elasta qp mango butter ... I could see how some of it was starting to frizz up a little..... I know I dont want my hair bone-bone straight with no body...but It has to be straight enough so it doesn't frizz up easily either.... I think I should wait for at least 6 weeks...go back to protective styling if I have to...I am not sure how I feel about correcting so soon...I am also worried b/c I have read how two different textures can cause breakage...

I have done a search and read most of the threads already on correcting/underprocessing...just wondering if anyone has any new perspectives on this?:perplexed Thanks

Also I wanted to add she used Mizani regular...do you guys think I should stick with this one next time or something else??

During the relaxer application, when did she apply the relaxer to your ends?

she started with the ends first...she said that the hair to the scalp would relax quicker due to body heat....which they did....

that is true, now how long did she leave the relaxer in? I hope she didn't overprocess your ends, what she should have done was a strand test to see how long to let the ends process b4 applying it to the middle and then roots so that the relaxer would have took evenly.

I would definately go get it corrected in 2 wks, just make sure she only applies it to what needs to be corrected.

2 weeks should be enough time, but if you feel comfortable wait until 6 weeks. Do some extra deep conditioning to boost them up a little more before then. You may want to use a protectant like the CHI Silk Infusion on the ends before relaxing.

Thanks for your responses ladies...but ?...If I were to use a protectant on the ends wouldn't that create a barrier that would retard the relaxing process again??? Also how soon do you thinkI can do a deep treatment like emergencee?? I was planning on doing an emergencee treatment this weekend....

I am really not sure how long....I think the entire process took about 25 minutes or so......she was watching the clock like crazy ..to make sure she didn't overprocess...

If you use something on the ends like the CHI, your should still process. It will just make the relaxer less harsh. Or, you could use a milder relaxer. You don't want to go from underprocessed to overprocessed. I think you should do a strand test to see how long you'll need to process.

You should be fine using the emergencee this weekend.

Good luck!
