So, I've decided to restart my hair care journey after weaving my hair up back to back for the past year. I'm currently at shoulder length and relaxed (although strongly considering the transition). But, I have a dilemna. I'm trying to care for my hair and give it the TLC it needs but it's very hard to work with. This is due to the fact that I have about 3 inches of underprocessed hair in the middle of the strand. I've been to my stylist to get it "fixed", but that obviously failed.

I don't know how to continue with this hair journey with my hair like this, so I came here seeking advice. The difference in textures has led to alot of breakage. The only time it's manageable is when I go to the salon and get it done and she uses excessive heat. Its really hard to detangle and air drying is a mess. Has anyone experienced this problem? How can I continue this journey with my hair in this state, or should I just go ahead and cut it off?

I haven't had a relaxer since 2006 but I would ask the ladies in the BKT thread. If you don't want to cut them off then it may help. I have seen some successful turnarounds with them but you really have to do your research and not pick up the first thing.. It will help and protect your relaxed hair while "relaxing" the under processed curl. Good luck though because I would be kinda heated if it were me.

I had that same issue from uneven relaxing last year. I also tried to get it corrected but the stylist missed it. Sadly my hair's pretty much broken off at that point in the back area. There has to be a corrective option.

I have the same issue which is one reason that led me to officially transition back to natural. I am not cutting that portion off unless I see extreme breakage, which I haven't.

Although, I have been doing roller-sets weekly and you can't even tell the middle portion of my hair is underprocessed.

If you do consider staying relaxed...to correct it I would:

Relax only that area again in about 4-5 weeks
Section hair off in about 10 sections
Braid your hair or twist up to the hair that is underprocessed (or u can use plastic duckbill(?) clips to section the area off
Protect your already relaxed hair(just in case) with an oil
Then apply relaxer only to that portion for about 5 minutes and constant smoothing

That should fix it...if not, maybe try protective styles to help your hair grow out and u could possibly (which sucks) cut it off
