UK Ladies - Ceramic Irons

My friend watched a JML infomercial on their cermic plated (not coated) flat irons, they are £19.99 from Robert Dyas stores or you can order online. There is one right infront of the bus stop I get off at so I went in and got me one. Haven't tried it yet, but I was looking for a solid ceramic one as opposed to plated for a reasonable price and £19.99 works well for me.

Thanks LD, i'm kicking myself now because last December, bought babyliss solid ceramic for £49.99 at Argos.

Yes, its excellent quality. Heats up in 2 minutes, constant and even heat without damage. It creates lots of shine and smoothness.....I hope to be at the next meeting too

Oh btw the way, for those of you living in East London there is a new pak cosmetic store opened on Lea bridge RD, i will find the leaflet and post details later on today. This is great news as there is no need to travel all the way to Finsbury park, for those hard to find products.

No, I haven't used it on my own hair yet my stylist straightens mine with the blowdrier and brush. I've flat-ironed my older sister's hair and a family friend with it and it works great. The plates are designed for sleek looks, which also enables you to flick styles LOL..

Yep, its already opened two weeks ago. I rang them and inquired about products like affirm but they are currently ordering new stock, the number is 02085218352.

Also the iron heats up to 205 degrees celcius.

My orignal post was worded incorrectly. In laymans terms, (i'm tired this week..sorry) They are solid ceramic plates not cermaic coated. I stated cermaic plated

Do they have different temperature settings? MY hairdresser & others rave about the GHD ceramic irons but a friend of mine has one and I was not very impressed with how my hair turned out when she used it on me.

The babyliss solid ceramic Iron that I had purchased from Argos has 25 heat settings, can't remember the highest temperature though but i presume it is quite high.

I paid (well, my ex paid) £95 for a GHD and I really like it, my hair is really coarse and its straightens it quickly. The only thing is I saw it on Watchdog, a lot of ladies complaning that it blew up whilst they were using it. GHD claimed it was a faulty batch but that they'd replace any damaged ones. I hope mine lasts!

BTW, do they allow non-stylists to buy Affirm relaxer at PAK? (or anywhere else)

I haven't used GHD but IMHO I think they are crap, I've read people complaining of the coating wearing thin and scraping off after a while.. They are nothing but aluminium plates coated with cermaic in the form of paint.

The ones I bought don't have temperature settings unfortunately. I used it this weekend and it turned out great. Flattened all my new growth very well. Of course it works better with product on the hair to protect it and make it shine etc.

The plates are just like ceramic kitchen plates (that's the best way I can describe them) not metal at all.

i would be a bit skeptical £19.99 is really cheap for ceramic irons. i would question it's quality

They worked brilliantly, Flattened my 4b regrowth VERY well.

Just like anything on the market, when they are new have a high retail price like £80-£100, once the demand for them is less and the hype is over the price comes down.
