Ugh what does she know about stretching?

I just came back from the BSS with a tub of Mizani Butter Blends. It's a lot but I went to two other places and they didn't have any. I asked one of the two Korean women if they knew about the expiration.

She asked me how often I relaxed while the other one looks at the tub. I told her once every three months. The one looking at the tub says no too long. I say it's just fine for my hair. What the heck does she know? Why do people think all your hair will fall out if you go past 8 weeks?

That's what scared me into do it for years and then wondering why my hair was starting to thin out and look so limp...duh. Chemicals.

I remembered in college, when my mom was doing my relaxers and she would get upset and scold me for waiting so long to get it done.

It was too much work for her to smooth out my naps. She just kept smoothing and sighing, smoothing and sighing and saying "jesus!"

And the funny thing is that the folks who get relaxers so soon and are telling me that MINE is gonna fall out from stretching, they come back after their fresh relaxer complaining about it, they got breakage and their stylist recommended a cut from damage and it needs a treatment...duh!

My answer- She doesn't know about stretching. Actually most of the Asian BSS personnel really don't know much about our hair or the products we use. Sometimes I feel that most get "on the job training" (learning about the products as they go along). Have you ever noticed how many non-Black owned BSS usually have atleast 1 Black girl working there? I don't ask the store owners about the performance of a particular product but I will ask if the product sells well. Just my opinion...
