the nape/temple hair a looser texture than the rest of the head?

Or is it the other way around? :scratchch

It depends on the person. My nape has always had a very loose texture. My temple hair is the same as the rest of my hair, generally. My "problem area" is just below my crown. ETA: Since I already have fine strands & a higher hairline, I still baby both of these areas.

However, for many women, they have the most problems, the slowest growing, and the kinkiest texture at the nape or temple.

It's gonna vary for everybody :yep:
My hair is loose almost str8 but still quite nappy at the nape & very front. My sides/temples are the tightest texture on my head.

yeah. my nape is very loose. that is why i would cut that part low because if it is just as long as the front, i'll start to have a shag.

My nape area is very loosely curled, the same around my temples and behind my ears....the very top of my head and the very front of my head I experience the same thing, but the middle of head (I lay on my back) and the sides of my front have a more kinkier coily texture than the rest of my head....

My nape is definitely a looser texture and hangs longer as Shortdub78 mentioned, "shag like" than the rest of my hair.

I think it varies. As much as we see some ppl complain about nape issues--I wouldn't call it typical. But for me, the whole perimeter of my hair is looser (nape going all the way around).

My temples are the loosest, the nape is second loosest and then it's my regular hair which is waviest (ahhh, my natural texture - why can't I just transition successfully???)

For me it's the other way around. I hardly get any new growth back there and growth is at a snails pace. I've decided to perm this area every 20 weeks, give it a break from chemicals.

Thank you for all your replies! I was just curious how much my hair's texture would differ from my nape hair. But I guess the best way to see is to transition or BC I guess lol.

my hair is 3c except for the very back, and a tiny 1 inch section at the front. those seem to be smaller/coilier 4a

Oh my goodness! I was JUST showing my DH the difference in the two textures. My nape area is so much looser than my temples. I mean all I have to do is untangle it with my fingers and smooth it (with my fingers) and it's nice and smooth, almost straight and the temples just look kinda... nappy. Lawd I hope I can get through this transitioning thing.

Me too! I have two curls on my nape that haven't been relaxed, and they just smooth out when I twirl them with my fingers. My temples are frizzy compared to my nape.

Good luck with your transition.

yes the same thing with me . My curls hang down in the front and are way more curlier than the rest of my hair. My nape is soft like the front too.

My nape is way looser than the rest of my hair and it grows super fast, when i was relaxed it hardly grew at all. Shrinkage is hiding it for me right now but when it gets longer im going to have to cut it.
