The longer I get into my transition the more I realized that I need a third hand. How are you ladies making your ponytails smooth?

This morning I rinsed out my deep conditioner (AOHSR on dry hair) and used my demna brush to smooth it down (after adding coconut oil). As I made the low ponytail (bunning when it's less wet) I realized the side I had already smoothed down was puffy. I literally had to hold one smoothed side down (at the ends) and try to smooth down the other side with one hand. Then secured with an ouchless band.

Are you doing one side at a time? Using two bands?

We have different hair types, but have you tried making your bun under the running water in the shower? I have out of control hair and that has been an easy way for me to "smooth " my hair into a bun. With conditioner in I just smooth it with a denman under the running water from the shower leaning back and and make my bun. Once I get out of the shower I smooth some coconut oil over it and it dries relatively smooth.

Same here .. then I just tie it up and go to sleep.

I don't make a wet bun, I let my hair dry and flat iron it a little so it won't be so poofy , then I put it in a bun.

I have done my hair in halves - pull one side into a smooth ponytail, secure. Pull the other side into a smooth ponytail, and secure it to the other side. Voila.

Otherwise, I braid my hair, let it air dry braided, and then take it out and deal with it dry. That seems to be the easiest way to tame the poofies, as I'm not fighting shrinkage and density at the same time.

The longer my hair grows the harder it is to bun, especially the further in a stretch you are. I use the ouchless head bands *the big bands you wear around your head* and double them up for ponytail holders. They give a great grip without pulling the hair. I also leave conditioner in my hair which helps alot.

Thanks ladies. I was running out to a work meeting this morning (boss was 30 minutes late) and had to get my hair under control. I ended up adding a scarf over it for the ride into the city and then I pinned up my SouthernTease bun outside the building where the meeting was being held.

I don't really like the wet bun right now. My wet hair is not thick enough for it yet. I am not going to be able to cowash in the morning on office/meeting days.
