So I've had thinning edges now for some years caused by micro braids when I was younger. I used to wear micro-braids for years out of convineince as I did not have constant access to a black hairdresser and I didn't have a clue how to care for my hair.

I am now thinking of taking a break from my glueless lace fronts which I have been wearing for over a year. Now that summer is approaching I m concious that it's going to be too hot to rock wigs. I am also more physically active now due to working out more so wigs are getting more tricky as I tend to sweat them out. :drunk:

So I was thinking of putting in some kinky twists. I plan on leaving out my edges out and twisting these without the addition of any additional kinky braiding hair and therefore tension and weight.

I will be getting bigger twists than ^^^ these ones as 1. I am do not have 6 hours to sit in the chair and 2. I am worried about weight and tension and finally 3. I plan to leave the twists in for 3 weeks at a time and then wash and DC.

Infact I kinda want them to look like the ones below:

.

So any suggestions, comments etc greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

If you aren't adding extensions and just using your own hair, weight shouldn't be an issue as your twist will be no heavier than your hair is anyway. So any size you choose will be fine.

ETA, I see what you are saying now. You plan to use extensions everywhere but your edges. Good plan.

I have kinky twists in and they didn't braid too tight or try to "catch" those baby hairs at my edges. You could request something like that

I agree with the suggestion from the PPs. The last image you posted looks like a twist-out but I do get the idea of what you mean. Just want to mention that if you have fine hair, your twists may look kinda scalpy if you make them so big. (Oh wait, you're adding hair everywhere else except hairline, so maybe they will look full. Ignore me.)

Also, moisturize your edges with castor oil. I did that when I had my last relaxer mishap and it helped me grow my edges thicker.:yep: I used the plain one you get from the pharmacy.
