Can someone tell me the benefits of your edges out when having braid extensions? I have kinky twists right now and did not leave them out after getting them done. I will probly have them done again after this set. What are some other things I should to gain growth and have no breakage? Tia

You leave your edges out when you get "weaves". For braids or twists, that would look ridiculous. The braids/ twists should be loose around the edges though because the hair is more fragile there(also the crown)

No sure what you mean by leaving edges out. I do go through a period of a few months when I don't have any extensions on the hair along my hairline but rather just wear my own hair twisted as bangs. The benefit for me is that I rest my hairline from the strain of carrying heavy extension hair and avoid traction alopecia.

Okay I thought I had read on here or somewhere that u were sposed to leave ur edges out for braid extensions/twists

I think I remember the thread you were talking about. Someone had her hair braided but didn't "catch" the baby hairs and people applauded her for that. I was surprised coz I didn't know people actually tried to braid those hairs that lie flat against your hairline. That's the only hair I know of that people were being told to leave out. I think it's a recipe for trouble if people are trying to attach extensions to these baby hairs along the hairline:

I think my baby hairs were braided :/ even those little sideburn pieces. But now the extensions are really loose and about to come out or those hairs r just begnning to show neway even with an extension on them.

My edges were always left alone when my mum and sis braided my hair, I can't stand it when I see people with braids attached to their edges so tight that their hairline starts receding, my sister's friend tried to capture every single strand when she's braiding someone's hair and that why their hair always breaks. It's not a pretty sight

Leaving hair complete out usually does refer to weaves

But you can do kinky twist exensions or braid extensions with cornrows that do not have hair attached to reduce tension

I use the technique here is an example of a past set of Kinky twist done that way
