I'm a natural 4b. I like my twist outs FINALLY and I finally got my hair to feel moisturized without having to seal (but I do anyway... when I feel like it :look:).

However, when the rain comes or humidity strikes, my hair will shrink up faster than you can say the word and I go :look::nono::lol:.

Without further ado, the regimen:
- Deep condition with ORS or Duo Tex once a week
- Alba Botanica leave-in
- Shea C&H Moisture Milk OR Taliah Waajid Bodifier
- Eco-Styler (clear) gel

Soft hair with hold! Now, this only works if there is little to no humidity and lasts for a couple of days without any redoing (only the occasional fluff). But one drop of water in the atmosphere makes it a wrap.

Any body solved this issue?

Nope.
Even if I load up my hair with my holding product of choice (foam wrap), it still probably won't hold up to some extreme humidity and I'll have a chunky fro.
That's why I don't worry too much about twistout/braidout definition in the hotter, humid months. I either just wash and go or just acknowledge that it'll be poufy and keep it moving.

Acceptance - I think it is what it is. This happened when I was relaxed as well. I've learned to deal with it and now that if their is humidity, I have to expect my hair to fall. I actually appreciate that characteristic of my hair - its an indication that my hair is soft and pliable and not stiff.

ITA with comments up thread. I spent last summer diffussing and stretching my wash n go's only to step out in the humidity and watch it shrink! Oh the horror of all my work in vain. lol

The only type of braid or twist out that will work for me in extreme humid weather is a dry one done on blown out hair. I gently blow it out on warm/cool setting then use a leave-in and a butter type product to twist/braid. Day one will be the most defined day...subsequent days turn into the "Diana Ross" look which I LOVE by the way. But I understand that look is not for everyone. :) I maintian this style by rebraiding or twisting nightly until I poo and start all over.

This summer I will avoid "humectant" styling products when doing this stlye. I think that will help with keeping the hair stretched. I will use a leave conditioner and a butter with out glycerin etc...

Thanks for all of your posts.

You guys confirmed what I already thought. I've been embracing it, but it's just so daunting facing the next day trying to figure out another style that isn't a puff so that I don't have to deal with a detangling session that will make my fingers angry at me.

I always see how people get third day hair/fourth day hair so I figured they must be doing something else that I'm not. Guess not, though
