Twist out FAIL

I know everyone hates miss jessies, but her products and techniques work on fine haired naturals. Get the curly buttercreme, shingle twist on wet hair soaked with product, sit under a dryer for 45 minutes, and let the hair dry.

I couldn't agree more about Miss Jessie's for fine hair. I've always repped those products. I'm not a huge fan of the Curly Buttercreme for styling because it doesn't hold that well for me, but I love the Curly Meringue. I like to use it on slightly wet hair, and it's the only product I've tried that works for twist outs. If I'm using another product I have to braid my hair. You should use a leave-in conditioner beforehand, though. I know MJ says to use the styling products on naked hair but I don't agree. I think the products are for creating and maintaining styles only, so they have a tendency to be drying if you haven't moisturized properly prior to application.

Also, I agree with the ladies that have advised you to not sleep hair that is anything other than dry. Sleeping on wet hair equals smushed twists/ twist outs for me.

Yep, twistouts are not my friend either. If I wear small, individual twists for about 5 days, and take them out, the result is a cute twistout. If I try overnight twists, flat twist outs, wet hair, dry hair, little product, lotta product, no product, epic fail! I've resolved that twistouts simply don't work for me so I don't even try them anymore. Now braidouts are my heart! :yep:

def try braidouts. I thought my twistouts would look better the longer my hair got. But now im pretty darn close to BSL and my twistouts still look like a hot mess. But braidouts look excellent. Some hair just don't take twistouts well!

I was having problems with my twist outs, but then I started experimenting with blending my own hair butters. I found pure Shea mixed with coconut oil and rose oil worked best for me (see pic below of 4 day old hair).
