Trying to get this twist out right

There no right or wrong twist out. It has to do with your comfort level. What are your expectations of your hair? Are they truly realistic? If not, you are just setting yourself up to fail. Sometimes you do just have to go with it. I honestly have not read about any transitioner who is truly happy with their hair. There is always one issue or another until they either 1, cut out the relaxer or 2, put in another relaxer. I am not trying to discourage you but you are going to have to find a happy medium and for me hair is not that serious to go mad about a twist out. Good luck, sorry I couldn't offer you any tips but I have seen this same topic many times before and people get very upset out the "twist out".

I saw the pics! I think it turned out great!!

I cannot get a good twist out without putting the twist into a bantu knot.

Many naturals have told me that twistouts tend to look "electrified" until you get some length. The longer the better.

I am still working on trying to get the twistout WITHOUT putting it into the knots. I think I will need a few more inches before that can happen though.

Your's looked great!

Thank you for your comments. I agree, hair isn't that serious to "go mad" about a twist out. That was not my intention. I basically just wanted to share my 1st attempt at trying someting new!

I'm like Pookeylou, I have to roll up my twists to get a good twistout. I'm waiting for a couple more inches for a rollerless twistout.

I only asked if you were relaxed because at your stage in my transition I wore braidouts or rollersets.

@ Thickhair's comment- During my transition I was happy with my hair many days. When I was not happy with my hair it was because I didn't "know" my hair. I had to learn how long it took to airdry, what amount of product was just enough & not too much, etc. I guess that's every transitioners challenge. Although I am still a little "challenged" 100% natural. :ohwell:

I think your came out really good. I do agree with Thinkhair that it's up to you and how you want it to look. For me I like to have defined waves in my twistouts/braidouts and the only products i've found that worked were Carol's Daughter hair milk and healthy hair butter. I always make sure to start with damp hair as well and make sure it's completly dry before taking the twists out to prevent excess frizzing.

@Thickhair-I am transitioning and I am very happy with my hair. Just because someone expresses a challenge they have with their hair does not mean they are not happy with it. Everyday their are tons of posts by women with relaxed hair that have challenges/concerns/problems with their hair and no one has every said that they are unhappy with their hair. That is the purpose of this forum to discuss our hair and the ups and downs we have in dealing with it. Many topics have been discussed before but each individual deserves their question to be answered or advice given. Just my 2 cents.

Mecca, I agree with you. You have really put it in perspective for me. It is all about getting to know your hair...again... and learning what combo of products will work best. Whatever I used on my roller sets may be different than my twist sets. But overall I am happy with my hair! Well said, thank you :)
