Tropical Dominican Conditioners

I used to go to El Mundo during my breaks when I used to go to City College. I don't remember why or what I bouught but I know it wasn't conditioner. Again, I knew nothing about the great world of Dominican salons and products and it was right there under my nose for 4 years...... /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I may take a trip up to El Mundo soon just for nostalgic purposes (okay and maybe some Dominican conditioners) /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Okay...obviously I'm slow...I still can't find anything /images/graemlins/confused.gif....do I have to do a search or something? HELP!!! PLEASE!!! I'm running low on my products and a trip to NYC is not in my near future.

I have the Venezuelan version and the ingredients are exactly the same as for the Dominican version posted by BlkMane (except without the "carrot oil" misprint - it does say avocado oil). I bought it at a BSS in NJ ($1.99 for 8.5 oz).

It didn't seem to do anything for my hair. Granted, I only used it one time but I didn't really notice any difference. Sometimes I have to use a product a few times to see the benefits so I'll give it another try.

Heck, for $1.99, no harm done but I'd like to know why ya'll like it so much.

The Avocado worked very well on my hair the very first time I used it. Softness, manageability, etc. I like how thick and creamy it is. I would rate it as 'better than average'. I like it because 1) it works! and 2) I like the idea of having something 'different'.
I know someone in NY who is kind enough to send it to me. But I wish I could order my own and stop bothering her!
Tropical is crazy. They could be making $$$ hand over fist by making it available to regular consumers online. What's the difference between a retailer buying a case and a consumer buying a case? It's not like they're losing money. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Tebby--I couldn't access the site, either. But I did find the address and phone # for the store AmiLion is talking about. Maybe you could call and set up a special order?

Thanks, Sassygirl. I use the Dominican brand (green w/ white top). Actually, my hair dresser uses it and my sister just brought some back from NYC for me on Wednesday. I thought it was just the hairdresser, but I just did a roller set myself after using this conditioner and all I can say is WOW!! Because I'm not too good at doing my own hair, imagine my shock when I had NO hair (not a single strand) in my comb when I combed out my hair after conditioning /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

I will have to give El Mundo a try because, like I said, I don't know when either my sister or I will get down to the City, I don't want to bother my friends, and my hairdresser doesn't sell the products t othe patrons of her shop.

Maybe the next time she places an order, you can give her some money to get some stuff for you too. It's worth a try!

FYI... for folks who are unable to get the conditioners locally. I just won some on ebay. I have yet to get them but here is the link to the Ebay.com seller ...

Which one(s) do you have? I have the avocado and the milk & honey (which is on my hair now).

SVT,

Have you made your decision yet (on ordering the Tropical Conditioner)?

Hi Allandra!

Sorry for not answering sooner. I've been busy moving to a new place. YAY for me!

I decided not to place the bulk order. I kept thinking about it and couldn't bring myself to order 208 oz. of a conditioner I've never tried. I already have stuff that works well on my hair and I'm going to keep using those.

I climbed out of the vortex of PJism unscathed /images/graemlins/weird.gif but when will I fall back in? /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

I purchased the avocado and the milk & honey too(wow /images/graemlins/laugh.gif). The seller had aloe vera too but someone beat me to it. I can not wait to get my goodies. This will be my 1st time trying them

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. For my hair, these two conditioners are super moisturizing. I also love the consistency of each. Please let me know how you like them (once you get them and try them out).

Guess what? Today I went to a dollar store and low and behold they had the Tropical Avocado, Aloe and Black for $1 each. I bought the Avocado and Aloe.

They are the Venezuelan version, though, in a new white jar. (The exact one the Ebay seller was selling.)

You go girl. One of the many pleasures of living in NY (you can get just about everything there). Hmph. I wish the dollar stores here sold the Tropical conditioners. Heck, I wish ANY stores here sold the Tropical conditioners. Well, at least I have someone kind enough to help me out when it comes to getting Dominican hair care goodies. I have the Dominican Republic version. Is there much of a difference in the Venezuelan version?

Wow, I wish I could find them locally... Well I got my conditioners today /images/graemlins/drunk.gif and I cannot wait to try them. The Milk & Honey is in the same packaging as on Blkmane's photo and says made in the dominican republic. While the avacado is in different packing and says made in the USA.Both state Tropical International Cosmetics.

Next time I wash my hair I'll use the Trop. Avocado (Venezuelan) and post a review comparing to the Dominican version.

However, it does smell, look, feel different and it's more of a fluorecent green color compared to the Dominican version.

Survey says: .....Pure garbage!!!! /images/graemlins/mad.gif I don't know HOW this stuff has the same ingredients as the Dominican version because they are just not the same. They do not give the same results. The Venezuelan/US version is a very AVERAGE conditioner (and that's Average leaning more towards Poor).

I would not buy the US-made stuff again. I will only use the Dominican brand (the REAL stuff).
