How often or when do you trim your hair?

I trim when I relax.. or if I decide to go more than 9-10 weeks post, I'll trim at the 2 month mark. Well, actually my stylist "dusts" my ends just to keep them in shape.

Since I am new to being natural, it is taking some guess work to learn when I need to trim my hair to keep it healthy. After I got rid of my relaxed ends, I thought I could wait 4-6 months before trimming again. I was mistaken. I needed a trim after just 2 months. I believe b/c I still had to cut above my demarcation line. My plan now is it wait 3 months..but if my hair needs one before then, I will get it. I would like to only need to trim every 4 months.

I just cut off the relaxer 10/02/04... I cut WAYYY above my demarcation line /images/graemlins/wallbash.gif ... so I need to grow some hair back b4 even thinking about a trim.

For future trimming, I'm thinking maybe 2-3x a yr.

I get my hair trimmed every time I relax, which is every 16 weeks (4 months). /images/graemlins/smile.gif That works for me, but I find that by that time, I really NEED a trim! /images/graemlins/look.gif

I trim twice a year. My natural ends feel like broccoli florets...bushy on the end with smooth hair shaft. That is my clue to trim. I just did it tonight...cut off about an inch.

I trim as needed. My last trim was in September 2004, but the one before that was November 2003. Hopefully I won't need another until at least next summer.

once or twice a year... but i wouldnt exactly say "as needed". it is more like when i basically would look like a fool wearing it down if i didnt trim. So beyond as needed. more like "as a last resort".

I'm going to start dusting every 8-10 weeks, but trimming only 3-4x per year, unless it's need more often. Waiting 6+ mos is too long and I end up trimming more hair.

Well i've had a major cut and two trims this year. i will not be trimming my ends again until April 2005 and the most it'll be is 1 inch and no more or else i'll never reach waist length at this rate.
