Treatment at the Salon

I've always been curious... and kinda embarassed to ask while actually at the salon.

If you go to the salon and they give you one of those 15-minute conditioning treatments, what's usually in it? Is it for moisture, protein, or both?

Lastly, are they using a product that can be found at Sallys or your local BBS?

One more quick question. Has anyone actually asked their stylist "What's in it?"

Thanks,
-Dee

One more quick question. Has anyone actually asked their stylist "What's in it?" Yes, I have asked her what is in her products.

Thanks,

Answers in red bolded. This is your hair and you and your stylists should have a goal plan in place when it comes down to what goes into your hair. It is good to have an open realtionship with your stylist.:yep:

That’s such a good question as stylists’ always offered to ‘give me a treatment’ but never stated the kind of treatment. I always declined it anyway so never found out any more about the mystery treatment :look:

In the salons I went to they kept a list of the deep treatments and you can choose which one you wanted, but the price would vary. These were all Dominican salons and they carried either Dominican conditioners or brands like Nexxus, Mizani, Kera Care, ect.

The stylist that i used to go to, worked at jcpennys and also ran a salon out of her home. She always seemed very secretive about the products that she used, whenever I would ask her about them.

You should always ask what's in it and where you can purchase it. Especially if you like it and want to continue at home. If you went into a restaurant you wouldn't think twice about asking what was in a dish. If a stylist doesn't want to share details with you run for the hills!

When i thought i was rich i was getting a treatment for moisture/ protein or dry scalp depending on my hairs needs. My salon used mizani which i have since bought myself and leave on for more than 15 mins, she would go through the ingredients and how it would benefit the hair. However i was using treatment products that worked just fine - elasta dpr 11, ubh dc, ors replen, joico reconstructor and hydrator (love these) etc. Previous stylists when i was relaxed 5 yrs ago wouldnt say what was in a 'treatment' but they generally witheld advice anyway and i would keep going back to get treated fortnightly!
