Trasitioning and took out my sew in yesterday...now what? Help me!

I had the install for almost exactly 2 months. I made sure to detangle and get out shed hair before washing...it was a long process! I am currently about 7 months post and my new growth is out of control. I have not cut any of the relaxed ends off yet, but I will have some of it cut before my next install (which I'm thinking is going to be the beginning of next month).

I only washed and conditioned my hair after I took out the weave...what should I do now? I was planning on doing a henna treatment and then a deep conditioning tomorrow. Is that ok?

Help me...I'm trying not to make any huge mistakes in this transition! :whyme:

All I have to say
is make sure you keep
your hair moisturized, a nice
leave in should do the trick!

I never did a henna before..bumpn it for you.

That sounds like a plan! I would want to get rid of any build up on the hair and after your henna follow up with a Deep Moisturizing conditioner. :)

Ok great...should I do a protein treatment first (before the henna) or will the henna be enough. I'm worried that my natural hair is going to get thicker with the henna and my relaxed hair will be a mess. It is already very thick at the roots. I have never had this much natural hair. I'm thinking about deep conditioning before and after the henna process...but I'm wondering if I should even worry about the protein.

Me and you are at the same point transitioning. After I took out my braids the shedding with crazy! I've had braids before, but I think I lost extra due to the two texture difference. What helped me was an all day moisturizing session and getting a good end clipping.

Yes I definitely need a good trim. My shedding actually wasn't too bad. I tried to post pics but the computer kept telling me to resize the picture (it was a cell phone pic!)

I've never hennaed, but I know it strengthens your strands, so I don't think you need any protein to go along with it. That might be too much for your hair. I say just make sure you detangle thoroughly, apply the henna, cowash it out very thoroughly, and follow with a deep conditioner, for as long as you can handle it. Then rock a braid out or something similarly cute for a few weeks before you reinstall.

I think that's exactly what I plan on doing. Instead of a braid out though, I think I'm going to be rocking my half wig for a couple of weeks!
