Hi all,

Today i've decided to stop relaxing my hair, i've been thinking about it for a year now and i think its time.

I want to feel my natural hair again, it used to be soooo full, long and soft and i miss that.

So im here asking you guys for any tips, what things have i got to look out for and how do you think is the best way to do it?

Im a little apprehensive, so all the advice will be useful.

Oh, congrats on your decision!!! I vote for the BC! Just do it! I did a brief transition for 4 months, I had planned on transitioning for a year. But I just woke up one morning and decided I wanted to be natural, and could care less about its length. I already knew with shrinkage it would look short for a long time anyway. :)

It's been fun getting to know my hair, literally from root to tip. Even though it has looked the same length for months, I learned from the starightening incident that it grew like a weed, and I had retain pretty much all of it! I couldn't have envisioned all that growth had I transitioned, but I guess I'll never know now. But if you want to transition, you have to do what's best for you. That's why it''s called a transition period...your mindset is embarking on a transition journey as well. I had to go through it too, Even though my hair wasn't super long it had kept it's length, I just didn't want to let that go, then I realized it had to come off sooner or later anyway... so just do it! ;)

Congrats and I agree with everything curlilocs said.

You should check out the transitioners support thread, it has a lot of great tips and you can buddy up with other transitioner's

Congrats on your decision! There is alot of knowledgeable ladies here who can help u in yr journey!

I will be following after you only later this year:D . I am so pysched about the whole thing. Hell if I don't like it and I doubt I won't I can always go back to being relaxed. What did it for me was the lovely natural head ladies on this board. I haven't worn my natural texture since I was a kid.

Congrats!!!!!!!! I am 7 months into my transition and I am still learning and going through trial and error, but it is worth it.

Congrats on your decision to transition :) I second checking out the Transitioner Support thread. There is LOADS of valuble information there.

I'm with you girl. I just made the decision to transition this past week!!! I did alot of reading and i have prepared myself for those days i just want to chop it. I'm going to gradually cut my perm off. So that i won't be tempted i'm going to get braids for 2 months or so, then wear my hair in braidouts, twists and straw sets for a month, then go back to braids. Each time i take out my braids i'll cut some off. I want to have some length, i'm such a chicken, i know!!!
