I think I should clarify but I'm scared of a having a knotted mess on my hands. Am I asking for trouble?

i clarified for the first time after BCing and my hair was sooo dry. i think ill have to try the ACV rinse

I clarify pretty regularly with Kenra's clarifying shampoo... its quite good...not harsh and my conditioner does so much bette when I use it. It says gentle enough for daily use. (BTW... I'm transitioning so I have had my fair share of tangles)

I tried ACV... but I could never get it to work right for me.

I co-wash every night and clarify once every 2-3 weeks or right before I start using a new product. I still use conditioner after I use a clarifying shampoo.

I clarify once a month. I follow it up with a moisturizing conditioner so I haven't had an extraordinary amnt. of tangles or problems.

i clarify once a month maybe.....clarifying shampoo, ACV rinse, baking soda....its all good...i never have a tangled mess on my hands, i wash my hair in sections to avoid that type of situation. :D

I clarify once a week or once every two weeks, depending on what I think my hair needs. I am starting to use Aveda Hair Detoxifier. I co-wash every day, btw. And I use Sap Moss shampoo when I think my hair needs it. HTH. (I don't get tangles with this regimen, however I have gotten very hard, dry, stripped hair from "drug store" clarifying shampoos. I can't use those anymore, ~unfortunately~ because the price is right. ACV rinses didn't feel like they were working for me.)

I clarify about once a week with V05 Kiwi & Lime conditioner. I use diluted Dr. Bronner's 18 in 1 castile soap once a month. No tangles either way.

I clarify with Nexxus Aloe Rid Gentle Clarifying Shampoo every 2wks or so. I have had no problem with detangling or dryness. I do moisturize afterwards though. Nexxus also makes a stronger Aloe Rid Treatment but I have not tried this one.

I clarify from time to time, using either clarifying shampoo (rare) or ACV rinses. My hair seems dry after the ACV rinses, so I make sure I deep condition afterwards and wear protective styles.

I clarified earlier this week with VO5 and used a cholesterol deep conditioner. I, too, was wondering how the comb-out would be, but it wasn't much different than it normally is.

That is what I use too. I always make sure to follow up with Kenra's moisturizing shampoo and conditoner or Intensive Emollient Treatment. I clarify once a month.

i might have to get this kenra clarifying poo. cos my hair has started breaking when i used the suave. also, my relaxed hair was doing alright with salerm 21. now, my natural hair is loving it!

I don't clarify. I just use MNT shampoo once a week. (I conditioner wash every other wash now)
I have tangles no matter what. Thats why I spend more time on detangling

I clarify about once a month w/ACV rinses or sometimes I use Trader Joes shampoo. I used to use neutragena but once I chopped, it did my hair so wrong..

I do not clarify and probably never will. I have never deemed it necessary. I wash my hair once a week and I never overload my hair with products to the point that they no longer absorb--when clarification is needed.

I clarify with Apple Cider Vinegar about once a month then apply a moisturizing conditioner afterwards.

Update: I did an experiment tonight with Aloe Rid Gentle Clarifying Poo and Fantasia 100% Tea Shampoo. I used one shampoo on each side of my head and kept the sections seperate. Aloe Rid is the winner. My hair felt clean and soft. As far as the Fantasia, never again! I was afraid to even comb my hair it was that tangled.

I repeat....whats it mean to clarify and what does it do?

To clarify usually means to wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo. It is done to remove build-up, hard water, chlorine, etc. Supposedly, your conditioners work better and your hair is shinier once its been clarified.

I only clarify with clarifying shampoo if I'm going to straighten my hair and I want it extra light and bouncy. That's it and then I use Elucence's clarifying poo. That one doesn't leave my hair hard. For regular clarifying, I use V05 Lime and Kiwi conditioner.

ok thanks

I am still uncomfortable with clarifying now that I'm natural. I'm afraid my hair would be too dry and brittle to deal with. :ohwell:
