TRANSIES :) -tell your story! Here's mine

I am 29 weeks post relaxer. I would say I have about 2-3 inches of new growth (much less than i hoped for) and I'm feeling unsure. My hair is doing pretty well. Not too much breakage, decent growth, manageable texture. However, every now and then and NOW...I think about relaxing OR texlaxing. I don't want to stop before I see what all of my natural hair would be like without the permed ends. But I also want some length that i can see.
i guess i just want others to share their frustrations and i have one question... for those who have done long transitions followed texlax, how the heck do you manage to process 3 inches of hair, all over your head, for under the normal processing time?

lol@ transies.

i'm one year out. the past week it has been buns; i flat ironed the first 9 months or so but since i cut down on the heat its been twistouts, braidouts, etc

i've been transitioning for 9 months and i love my new growth. this is my only problem, my right temple the curls are really tight and coily like little straw curls, very pretty. but on my left temple there are zero curls just fuzz. the middle and back of my hair is ass very beautiful s pattern curls. i love it. but the middle front of my hair is completely straight, no curls at all.
im hoping that when im completely natural the curls will come together and look beautiful.

This is my third attempt at transitioning, and hopefully the last :p I bun it most of the time since I am also not doing a b/c though, and want to retain my length. I rollerset and airdry when not bunning, every couple of weeks or so, but don't see myself doing much of that since its sooo hot outside lately. I am on a no heat regimen, indefinitely.

@ the bolded: this is my problem also :ohwell: I have pretty S curls and curly Q's curlies on part of my hairline, and mixed around on both sides of that section are patches of curl-less, kinda fuzzy hair. The rest of my head is very "3c" And same as you, I just hope the different textures merge together in the end for some kind of cohesiveness lol...

^^^LOL yeah first thing that came to mind was trannie, i had to do a double-take!

Haha, ditto!

Transitioning really takes patience sometimes. I just try to keep it very simple. Generally, I just braid my hair in one braid, and make a little semi-bun (see my fotki).

You just described my hair exactly. I've tried leaving conditioner in my hair to create curls and it does all around my head but in that area nothing happens. Ith only thing that creates a little wave is gel lol.

OP- I've been transitioning for about 14 months now. I normally just co-wash and bun either daily or every other day.

Your hair is beautiful! It looks so soft...

I just wanted to say that my eyes are playing serious tricks on me because I thought this thread read "Trannies, tell your story." This was my face:

I am so embarassed.

Anyhoo, I loved all the stories that I have read here. Keep up the awesome work, everyone!

I am what..62 weeks post at this point.

Imma be honest, I don't really even know what my hair looks like at this point...b/c I do the same things erryday, plop some gel on it, pull it back and attach a phony pony, bun or half wig. My hair cannot really bun like it did in my siggy, cause I keep snipping at it....I see lots of deep waves going on, so I know its at least growing (lol), but beyond that..dunno.

I'm doing my best to be in this for the long haul, but erry blue moon I see a lovely bc result and get the itch.

Transies? Me no likey that nickname :nono:

LOL! I thought the same thing... looks to close to "trannies".

I don't count by weeks (sorry) but I'm 6 months post, so how many ever weeks that is... >26 weeks I guess :look:.

I haven't had any problems thus far, but I'm one of the ones who still flat irons to blend when I want flowing hair. I ain't scurred! lol Other than that I've worn twist outs, buns, and now braids for the summer. I haven't had the urge to relax this time at all. I think it's really because I knwo where I could have been if I would have just completed my transition the last time I tried and failed at 7 months. I'm taking baby steps, but at the start of the year, I didnt set out to transition, I set out to not relax for '08... then figured if I can make it a whole year then I can transition :).

I started out stretching my relaxer, and it turned into transitioning. I was just loving my newgrowth and always wanted natural hair (just didn't want to big chop) so here I am. I'm going into my sixth month and so far aside from the shedding and sometimes breakage, it's been cool. Hopefully all of that will slow down now that i've decided to K.I.S.S. Don't know when I'll chop. Never had short hair so....:ohwell:

P.S. I need to post some pics because I'm finding hair cousins (possibly twins) all over this board:yep:

14 months post. Decided to transition just to see what my hair looked like  No story, my hair is in a phony pony everyday pretty much, starting at about 7 months post. My goal is 24 months, then I will decide if I am going to BC :yep: Loving my hair so far- can't wait to see the end result, but a bc, ummm nope, not yet. I want to ensure I have a low ponytail, even if just a nub.

I feel ya! :yep: I can't do the BC either... i've had short hair before and it's not where I want to be right now :)

off to peek at your fotki :look:

omg mine is just the opposite, I am 11 months.

I'm 7 months in and I've been wearing a lacefront. I'm really tired of it though. So, today I got cornrows. I'm going to try to get them done every 2wks. Since I'm hiding my hair, I think it's time for me to start cutting the relaxed ends. :perplexed
