Tracking Hair Care Expenses for the next 12 mos...Any takers?

Hey everyone,

I actually have been tracking my haircare expenses, via Microsoft Money, for the past 3 years. A healthy portion of my income goes to haircare and I don't even count all the products I buy. I include all my salon services and tips. The amount is staggering. Be warned.

Peace

The following are my preliminary findings. (I had to pull all my monthly personal budget reports since March together for this!!! :o  )

Here’s a breakdown of what I spent since March 3, 2006. (I will note I do most of my purchasing on-line, so I keep good records. Prices include shipping and taxes. However, I may have missed just a couple of impulse buys at Sally’s!) :

Leave-ins and moisturizers: $73.78 (I buy larger sizes that last a long time, though)
Conditioners: $93.89 (actually less than I thought)
Shampoos: $5.98 (an overrated item I don't invest much in.)
Special Treatments: $125.88 (i.e. Aphogee protein, Alter Ego Cren, a few others)
Salon visits (includes tips): $385.00
Vitamins & Supplements: $160.78 (not all for my hair, but for overall benefit)
Tools : $89.98 (i.e. rollers, combs, clips, accessories, elastics, new ION soft bonnet dryer, etc.)
Oils: $78.93 (for only 5 products.:perplexed I don’t skimp on quality here, but then again a little goes a long way!)
Phony Ponies: $85.90 (for 7 of them. I don't know if these should be a separate category since they are probably considered accessories?.... :look: )

Grand Total: $1,100.12
(This total is for almost seven months of hair expenses, not including a few impulse buys I may have made with cash. If I had to estimate those, it would be about $30 or less).

I don't plan on purchasing anything else this year (I really need to use up what I have in stock). However, I did just purchase 2 new phony ponies for the holidays and took advantage of the "buy 2 get 4 free" sale at Puritan's Pride in vitamins that will last at least 6 months, so this total is probably pretty close to a 12 month total for me. I do have one to two more more salon visits, but those will total no more than $220.00 if I can actually make it to my appointments. ;)

Whoops! I forgot my $5.00 subscription fee to LHCF. It’s better than anything I have bottled in my hair cabinet. :yay: :D

My revised grand total is: $1,105.12.

I think I'm going to be :ill:

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

I'm in I need to face reality when it comes to getting my fix when I buy a sweet new hair product. I the first step is accetpance so I my as well start with seeing what this habit is costing me :ohwell:.
