WOW!!! This flat iron is amazing. My last relaxer was 11 months ago. My hair is now sliky , glossy, and smooth. I still in shock!! My hair feels soooo good, it is very soft. I decided to try this instead of the Maxiglide, or Chi iron. It has infrared heat that penetrates the hair from with in for gentler styling and healthier hair. It also contain gemstones in the plate. It heats up to 448. This has to be the best find of 2005 for me. I can't get over the softness and shine of my hair!!!!!

I got it fro Sally's. It was $60, and well worth it! It;s called " Ceramic Tools Commerical Grade Tourmaline.

The sales person told me that she just back from training on their new flat iron lines and learned that tourmline irons to not harm the hair. She also said it is healthy for the hair, it improved the condition of the hair. I don't believe this at all, but I do believe it is gentle on the hair!!

Ladies you got 2 try this!!!!

Glad you like it. I think the maxiglide is good because of the steam. I will probably get a maxiglide in a couple of weeks.

just a warning that the steam from the maxiglide wasn't that beneficial to me. If you watch the maxiglide infomercials, the guy goes over the same piece of hair over and over again and that is what you will have to do with the maxi. Also the maxiglide really stinks if you have any oils on your hair. Just a word of warning!

i want a tourmaline iron as well, but i was looking at the T3 line. I wonder if the one you have is comparable cuz i'd much rather just spend 60 over 180 for the T3.

I want a tourmaline also. I was looking at the T3 line...the only thing is that thier plates only go up to 1 3/8 inch...I was looking for something 2 inches. Does the 60 dollar tourmaline you tried come in 2 inches??? -Melissa

I was told that this is just like the T3, but cheaper. It comes in 1/2 and 2 inch. My friend has the T3 and I can't tell the differences.

Does anyone know if there is or what is the difference between a tourmaline and a regular ceramic flat iron?

I LOVE this board!!... I just looked at this iron in Sally's yesterday and was thinking about purchasing it. I am glad you had a good experience with it. I am on my way to Sally's......:driver:

Bought it, used it, loved it!!! Of course I have no other flat irons to compare it to aside from my marcel flat iron but nonetheless I am pleased. :yay:

Hi marie,

apparently they are similar, but the tourmaline is the latest with
different materials, and boasts the ability to keep shine in..

Ah, and here is a bit better info - go to the end...
http://www.fabaocanada.com/flat_iron_guide.htm

My salon used a tourmaline on me and it was impressive.
Can't get that on my home ceramic one. I'll be buying one soon,
just a matter of getting the best price. Tourmaline is the
future! :-)

The Tourmaline has tourmalines in it. Tourmalines are the gemstones that are in the tourmaline iron. I think they may be ionic or something... All I know about tourmalines is from a gemology standpoint, not haircare, lol, but I have been seeing the T3 line being touted as the best thing since sliced bread...

My cousin has the T3 Wet / Dry and LOVES it!!! Her sister in law bought one and loves it as well..

Thanks for posting this review...I actually was going to purchase this flat iron in a few months, I'm glad that it worked out well for you.

Im gonna go and get one of these.. I hope my Sally's discount treats me well when buying this one

Really.. I only had to go over my pieces once or twice with the maxiglide. I love the steam it really kept my hair moisturized. I had NTM serum, jojoba oil and redken heat glide in it. No stinks

If I had heard about tourmaline first I probably would have gotten this one, the price is right..lol

Does anyone know about the Definition Series flat iron, because I can't tell the difference. This and the tourmaline seem very similar.

Sylver, maybe you only had to go over your hair once because your hair is relaxed...also, possibly depends on the settings used also. At least your hair didn't stink!

Somebody needs to do a poll between the Tourmaline and the Maxiglide! I am at the last phase of my flat iron search!

True :-)

Why don't u start a poll. It would be interesting to see since a lot of people checked OTHER on the chi or Maxiglide poll.

Chi now has a tourmaline flat iron. I saw in Ulta in Rockville, MD. Has anyone tried it yet? Please let me know because I am considering buying it.

I bought a Solia Ceramic Tourmaline from Folica.com in Mar of 05 and I am in love with it. Works perfectly everytime. ;)

Well, I found the T3 Wet Or Dry 1 3/4 " Tourmaline on Amazon (Folica) for $145... but shock of shocks when I went to fill in the warranty card online it said that you can only get the 4 year warranty if you bought it at an "approved" reseller. That would be Nordstrom or Sephora (or a hair salon) where of course you have to pay $200 for the same. What a scam!

Back to the flat iron, it is great. Very gentle on the hair. Perfect for my
aging hair, flattens the whispies, don't need to use hair spray for additional smoothing if I don't want to.

Now I want the tourmaline hair dryer, and wonder, could tourmaline hair brushes also make a difference??? I want, I want!!
