Right now as you can see in my avatar, My hair is SHORT. At night I sleep in sponge rollers with end wraps. That's bad hunh?

What should I be doing to keep the curl in myhair w/o heat?

Some of the ladies make pin curls and grow ther hair out that way. Twist outs can be effective also.
By the way, no question is considered dumb here! :)

Well if the sponge rollers are working 4 you why do you want to change? Do you sleep with a satin scarf/bonnet? I have a short bob now but I had a style just like yours. I would not get any spritz /holding spray, although my stylist at the time would insist. Without it your hair would be soft and I would just finger comb in the morning. I use to sleep 'pretty' - remember Regina King in Friday.

Hey Girl!
How ya livin?
Thanks for the answers, yall. I appreciate it. I am gonna try wrapping AND pin curls.

I think that since you are using end papers the sponge rollers shouldn't be too bad. But I also think the the pin curls will probably be the next easiest thing to do that gives you a nice curls.

I've just discovered the joys of Steam Rollers, mine are Caruso. They are the:

I was making excuses for using heat (every so often) but now for those on the go curls I can just steam them. They take about the same amount of time as pluggin in my curling iron, turning it on and waiting for it to heat up.

I get curls with no direct heat! They make them in smaller sizes or you can just file this away for future reference when your hair grows out more.

I used perm rods to keep my hair curled without the use of heat. The style I wore usually held up for 5-6 days or until I washed it out the following week.

:whyme: I mentioned the pincurls and twistouts but how could I have forgotten to mention the Caruso rollers so quickly! I just replaced my old system for Christmas with a new one and I agree with Onepraying - it is the bomb! Although steam is created, it is actually no heat (the curlers are not hot) and one can quickly curl hair in various ways too. The new systems cost about $30 at Sally's and are cute and portable. Not only can you make curls quickly, you moisturize your hair every time you use them!
