I posted in another thread that I had mixed some things into a moisturizer I couldn't stand, and I really like it now. (Actually, it might be LOVE!) The same happened with a gel I was using that was a little too firm-holding for my tastes.

When you have a product you don't like, do you mix products you do like in it or do you toss-it? IF you do mix, what do you mix-in?

I had ORS Hair Fertilizerr, which I hate, as the base, but I added ORS Olive Oil (bottle), water, NTM Silk Touch, Care Free Cure and EVOO--it is now the best moisturizer I've used in life...and I've gone through alot.

With the Gel, I had the Ampro Clear Ice Gel as the base. I added Crew Gel, Sunsilk Capitvating Curls Gel, Black and Sassy Wrap Cream, ORS Olive Oil, Care Free Curl, NTM Silk Touch, and it now has a firm yet MOISTURIZING hold.

I always toss.I prefer for a product to be good on its own.

Happy you like your new leave in :)

I agree with clever. And I wouldn't know what to mix it with or why. That's doing too much for me. If I don't like it, I'll just give it away.

I don't mix products, but I find a different use for it. I bought a spray moisturizer that left my hair dry, but clumped my curls nicely. I decided to use it again recently and now I use it in the shower to clump my curls and wash it out. So I guess it is kind of like a treatment now? But anyway, I love it and will get more when I run out.

I usually take something back to the store if I don't like it. If that's not an option, I mix it. I used up Ion Moisture Care condish by mixing it w/ one of my prepoo mixtures (coconut oil, honey, EVOO and some coconut milk). It worked well in this mixture as a prepoo, but i thought it was a waste of money by itself.

At this point i'm ready to toss whatver doesn't work. But I do mix.
My Garnier 3 min masque is usually loaded with evco and evoo. After that I won't repurchase. But since it works as a mix there's no point in giving it a way.

ROBOTxcore, sometime you get a feel for what just may work mixed together. By all means I'm no chemist.

Honestly if I can avoid mixing products, that's what I would prefer to do.

However, I have found in about 90% of the time when I didn't like a product and mixed it in with somthing else, that it has been the best thing I did with that product.

I spend MONEY on my products and I am not about to throw away money because that's what it equates to afterall.

I would rather mix it up with something else and if it still does not agree with my hair, I would hand it over to my sister and nieces to use.

They always appreciate averything I give them and they use them all up which I appreciate, and as a result I know my money won't be wasted that way.

Plus, it pleases me that they enjoy the products I give them and what's more, their hair always seem to love the products I give them.

Sometimes I will try and mix, because I hate to waste. I had some Rusk Sensories Smoother that I was not impressed with. I added almond oil and now I can make use of it. But I have a couple of glycerin based leave in creams that I just can't do anything with because they leave my hair sticky.

i'm a 50-50. it depends on what it is. sometimes i dump(ok give-away) and sometimes i mix. more than likely, anything solid, i'll give-away and any liquids, i'll mix or dump out so i can use the bottle.
