I picked protective styles - it's a double whammy because it's low manipulation and no heat. I would say that DCing/Oil rinsing comes next and then finally scalp massages and a protein/vitamin rich diet. With all these powers combined I have some super growing hair that I'm able to maintain!

 :lol:....idk this sounds so funny to me..

I have more three top choices that work together.

Stretching relaxers, co washing and protective styling.

I'm finally learning how to pick those scissors up to get rid of the dreaded ssk's. Dusting and trimming more frequently will be my next goal.

My Holiest of all holy grails. It's a really good dc. I love it. It leaves my hair moisturized and soft for days after using. I believe the secret ingredient is unicorn tears.:look: I have a picture of it in my avi.

Omg that sound delicious, I'm going to try that packet, do they make bottles because I can't find it online

My top picks are being consistent with dustings/trims, protective styling, and moisturizing and sealing my ends.

These are my top picks because they all contribute to the optimal health of my ends. It took me a long time to realize that I MUST get and keep my ends in order if I want to retain length.

I've finally found my holy grail products after 2+ years of trying. The big three that have literally transformed my shedding, lo porosity, dry, brittle hair to soft, moisturized, springy curls, in order of importance...tea rinsing, Nupur Henna and Terressentials mud wash.

ETA -- how could I forget, but discovering that my hair needs a weekly dose of a light protein treatment to thrive was huge. Prior to this my focus was entirely on doing moisturizing DCs.

For me deep conditioning (protein and moisture) and search and destroy trims hands down is my thing. I did the whole protective styling thing for a year, and while I did see great retention, I just can't get jiggy with hiding my hair all the time.

My holy grail products would have to be Kalpi Tone paste, cowashing and protective styling. These 2 products make my hair soft but strong and allows me to retain my length.

:yep: :yep: To all of this..

My #1 pick is leaving my hair alone, closely followed by maintaining a proper protein-moisture balance and the use of castor oil.

This is the first time in a long time that i don't have any split ends .
Credit for this to :
-not using relaxers
-not using flat irons (i do use hooded drier to dry hair during winter months)
-cutting off all damaged hair (a good 4 inches)
-leaving my hair alone.
-keeping it in a bun or pony(buns can damage ends)
-washing and conditioning with nourishing natural products.
-oiling my whole head after moisturizing.
-using Heavy duty butters on ends ,hairline andnwhere elastic band goes around my hair.

Voting dusting because I finally purchased the Split Ender. From experience I know that dusting is critical for me but since my hair isn't even (and I refuse to even it up) doing it with a pair of scissors was taking several days of two hour sessions....it was such a nightmare and i still had to S&D constantly.

With the Split Ender it's an hour at most and gets the large majority of my hair in 1 session. Upon inspection my ends look clean and there's no need to S&D constantly anymore. My hair is smoother and detangles easier.

This product saved my sanity! ( if you're on the fence, the cost is worth it!!)

Cowashing every 3-4 days have done so much for my hair. I still shampoo every once in a while, but my hair loves moisture. Next would be DCing.

You got me jealous!!! Just ordered mine and I received it Saturday, but the blade was missing :( can't wait until my replacement arrives this week!!!
Do you flat iron your hair first? How often are you using it?

shortt29 lol! I'm glad you held out and asked for a replacement, it's a great product. The first time I used it I flat ironed but this last time on Friday I had actually air dried my hair and gently combed through each section before using the split Ender. The flat iron was out and ready, warmed up too! But I really didn't want to use heat so just started doing small sections and it came out beautifully. Mind you, I had done an oil rinse as part of my co-wash the previous day so my hair was soft and for the most part detangled already. I used a small comb during the process and didn't lose anything but normal and very little shed hair.

If you want to try, comb from the ends up very gently and you should be okay. If it snags when you try the split Ender you have too much hair in it. Very Small sections on detangled hair is key.

Good luck! I'll check your other thread for an update after you get it

@leona2025 I could not read who makes it. I guess I could google search it. My birthday is July 21. Happy belated birthday!! Again I am referring to the hair repair
