My teacher was absent yesterday because she had to go to a Farouk (!!) training class. So today she came back and told us all about it, and I am so excited. First she told us they trained them on the Deep Brilliance line (more !!!) and how they have their products now where you can relax, bleach, and color (permanent) your hair all in one day because the hair dye doesnt have ammonia or peroxide in it. (i wouldnt do that.. but you can) So you know I'm like

cause a permanent dye w/ no ammonia or peroxide?! Everybody was looking at me like I was crazy because I was the ONLY one who knew about their products (if they only knew about the LHCF!).

Okay.. so then she tells us that Savannah Tech is so impressed with Farouk that we will be learning how to do hair using their lines of products! THEN she told us that Farouk will be coming to Savannah to do a hair show and all the students will get to go. We also have the chance to be a model, but we wont have ANY say in what they do.. so they could chop me bald and give me purple hair.. uh no. Anyway, the final icing on the cake was when she said "has anyone heard of CHI?" and I waved my hand and out she pulls a CHI curling iron and blowdryer. So I'm just staring in disbelief.. when someone asked whether they would be included in our kits.. and she said yes. Then she said that at the end of the year we can take our kits home. I bout fell out my chair yall! So I'm happy (1) because I get to go to a Farouk show and (2) because I'll have my own chi curling iron and blowdryer!!

There's more but this is long enough.. lol
Just thought I'd tell you ladies because I know YALL wouldnt look at me like I was crazy for it!

Rock on, candibaby! I'm glad you're actually going to be a stylist that KNOWS and CARES about what she's doing and healthy hair. At least we know there will be at least 1 in the world!

I'd love to get me some Chi products for free!

Way to go candibaby, if I'm ever in GA you can do my hair. This sounds like a great cosmetology school and not all bootleg like so many in my area.

it's pretty good, i just hate that there's so much we have to learn before we can even think about doing hair. we dont start doing hair until october

Ms. K, are there really bootleg/knock-off type schools in your area? Do they just teach you basic nuts and bolts stuff and then boom, you graduate?

I know a couple of people who went & they basically teach you styles...well one of my friends said her school was basically a fashion show and all people did was talk about each other...they're definitely not big on hair care.

In cosmetology school here... I went for a few months in DC too.. but you get the very basics. You have to take advanced training classes to get the good stuff unless you are a bootleg stylist like me who has been doing hair since Jr. High.

MS. Kenesha what schools did your friends go to in the area. I heard the one in New Carrollton does things like you mentioned.

Woo-Hoo!

It's so nice to know that there will be fresh, young stylists who actually care about hair CARE and not just some stupid style. Reginia, when do you graduate? Are you planning on opening up your own salon? I am currently a CMT, but am very interested in skincare and am definitely considering going into that field. My dream would be to have my own upscale salon a la Bliss or Elizabeth Arden.

Whoa girl... Dudleys is terrible. Bennett was ok but the teachers were GHETTO TRASH. I think that's the norm with all of the schools out here though. I am gong to just focus so I can get out. I want to change careers so bad... so I have to focus girl. I found a braid lady for 120 if you don't mind coming to Gaithersburg and seeing the little kids running around.

Unless I have a lot of clients I will work in a shop, I currently have a few customers and will do more advertising soon. It feels weird to be changing careers after doing this since I graduated from college. I like the set up of Salon Plaza. If my client base is high enough, I may work there for a while. Have you ever heard of Cole Stevens Day Spa in Greenbelt. That's something that's more my speed. Here's the link Cole Stevens Salon

Who else in here is in cosmetology school or starting cosmetology school?

She's talking about the hair product company that offered her to be a model, but they have complete control of what they do.

Let's get back to this hair color business. Can you tell us more about it please?

[/ QUOTE ]

All I know about it so far is that it's part of the professional part of Deep Brilliance, it's permanent, (no ammonia or peroxide whatsoever) and it's safe to use it on the same day as your relaxer. I'll probably find out more at the hair show and hopefully there will be samples/brochures so I can scan them to show yall.
