Hey !!!!!!!!

So i self relaxed my hair this morning and i asked my sister to just sit and watch me to make sure i wasnt overlapping and just for my own nerves.. ( i was a bit scared ) Anyway she was like I dont think you should be messing with this stuff... (typicall huh). Seh said let the professionals do it... and then I said they do it and they still do it wrong.. Then she said no they dont..( wat does she know cause she been wearing a weave for years... never seen her natural hair out yet ) she hasnt gotten a relaxer in like maybe 7 years so how she know they not doing it correctly.. she was like your hair is breaking cause you let those dominicans blow our your hair... and i was like wrong.... lol cause they only blow outmy roots now... and she was like ur hair still breaking.. i was like thats called shedding... the bulb is at the end... So I think im a bit underprocessed cause i used mild cause i really wasnt sure and i didnt want to go too strong but thats better than overprocessed. it was my first time so i knew it woudlnt come out perfect. Did any of you guys experience people comments when you tried to self relax. I just feel like wats the point of me paying someone to jack up my hair.. i can do that myself for free. ya know.. and it wasnt that bad... i gotta get my technique better but I didnt burn one bit.

i relaxed at 21 by myself!!! Everyone was telling me to go to the salon, but why spend 80 dollars when i can spend 8 dollars and get the SAME RESULT? Your technique will improve. Mines has!

I started relaxing my own hair at 14/15 years of age...:look:...I KNOW!
Most people didn't have any good or bad comments about it, but a lot of other girls, or were doing it as well so I guess it wasn't such a big deal. Of course, you get the ones that look at you like...' you sure you wanna be doing your own hair...you ain't qualified'
I totally got put off going to the salon because the first and only time I got a touch up at a salon, I ended up with a horrible chemical burn that was about 3 inches long :nono:. I've never burned my own scalp in ten years.
'Professionals' don't always know what they're were doing.

Argh yes...I'm a teenager who isn't 18 yet and I made the personal decision to self-relax almost a year ago. My mom and family was a bit wary and they did not want me to relax..they said my hair was gonna fall out and kept giving me crazy looks when i said i know how to do this. Fastforward and my hair has never been healthier  it's so shiny and thick and the hair that's been processed by my stylist is a little thinner.

Co-signing on the bolded. I just came back from what will be the last time I pay anyone to relax my hair. I was supposed to go to my old stylist, but she is too dang far, so I went to the lady I have been going to over the past year. I brought my own relaxer, but she insisted on putting their own crizzap on my hair :wallbash:. Not only that, but she overlapped with my previous relaxer, even after I told her that she was doing it. Given, she only left it in about 13 minutes from start to finish, but I was not happy :nono:. Then, I gave her a neutralizing rinse that was supposed to be left in for 5 minutes and she washed it out right away. By then I was PISSED, so I decided not to even bother with the cellophane. I was not going to give her one more cent from my pocket. By the time my hair was dried, my roots fell hard and stiff! I told her that she had probably left some relaxer in my hair and this is her response " I am the stylists, I know what I am doing." I asked her to just wrap my hair and I payed and went home. That is it. I am officially done with stupid stylists. I am going to do this myself and will use my DH as my eyes for those parts of the head I can't see. Any way, sorry for high jacking your thread....

no prob.. lol i dont mind.. you see thats the thing if they really knew what they were doing... we wouldnt see women with crappy looking hair now would we no... they think they know wat they doing... thinking and knowing two differnt things...

I'm 15 I self relax .. my cousin just graduated from beauty school and she encouraged me.

Everyone else in school just say .. wow you do ?

My mom doesn't know though. She wouldn't be happy.

I don't have people all up in my hair like that so no one knows I self relax except my mother and no one has ever said anything about not doing it.

My sisters tell me I shouldn't self relaxer or even style my own hair all the time. They are so dependent on hairdressers. I don't pay them any mind. Stylist would see my hair texture and use super strength....I hated walking out of there with scalp burns....that's probably what really caused me to start self relaxing.
