Do you use the same techniques on their hair? Such as frequent washing, moisturizing, supplements, etc.

We both keep it simple; washing once a week. Shampooing for him and I spray JustForMe on his hair and brush it. For mine I shampoo with AO Island Butter shampoo or no 'poo with DDTA or VO5 then I twist it, braid it or keep it as is. -- jainygirl

I have children. for my daughter, I shampoo her 1x per week and cowash 1x per week and cornrow it after each time. My hair type is 3c/4a but hers is I'd say 3b and I think it is alot easier to care for. Since I've been here and lurking :lachen: she's had about 2-3 inches of growth. Once I take my braids out in September, I will be making and album for both of us

No, because my daughter's hair is straight, not curly, so I have to treat it differently than I do my own. I do have the same philosophy though, which is keeping it as simple as possible, treating the hair gently and teaching her to love and be proud of her hair. She is recently touching my hair and saying "Mamma's curly hair...pretty." Then she touches her own and says, "Straight hair...pretty." That makes me smile.

My oldest sons hair is cut very short and my baby has 3A/3B hair and I'm trying to find something that keeps the curls from turning frizzy. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to share.

I shampoo my daughter's hair at least once a week; but I only shampoo my own once a month. I also rarely conditioner wash her hair. I conditioner wash my own about 2-3 times per week. Her hair likes everything my hair likes and more. Products that make my hair appear dull or just don't work, her hair likes them. But overall I keep her routine & my own simple.

My daughter is nine and has extremely thick 4a hair. When stretched her hair is past mid back. To make things more difficult she is also extremely tenderheaded. :ohwell: I keep her regimin as simple as possible because she hates getting her hair done. I wash once a week, condition, leave in, braid or twist and air dry. I use shea butter daily for moisture. Every now and then I will flexi rod her hair and let her wear shirley temple curls but she hates the dryer as much as I do so its once in a blue moon for that.

I do braid outs and individual twists on her hair alot. She likes the look and would rather air dry anyway. She does sleep on a satin pillowcase and wears a scarf to bed every night. She takes a multi vit and thats about it since she is afraid to swallow pills. I don't know if I could handle it if her hair got any longer on thicker.

No. My baby is tenderheaded too. She has really thick 4B hair. I wash hers every 2 weeks and either braid it, or do some twisted ponytails. I also use grease on her hair and I don't put any on mine. She also knows that she can't go to sleep without her bonnet and no little kids playing in her hair.

My daughters hair is mega mega thick, and she is mega mega tenderheaded.
She is 13 and does her own hair as far as styles. I wash her hair probably once or twice a month, I use the same products on hers, on mines..deep condition, and blow dry straight, jojoba oil. Very simple
Good lord if I let her hair air dry it turns into a big nappy fro that you can't get a finger thru, just like mine was. Everyone hates to do her hair. She usually wears her hair in cute styles with ponytails.
I won't allow her to get a relaxer or wear corn braids. I finally got her in the habit of wearing a scarf every night. I also make her leave it alon. Like probably only style it ever other day.

yes what i learn here i apply to everyone in the house.

i pre poo/wash/deep co my daughter once a week during the school year and she usu. wears braids and twisted ponytails. during the summer we do co washes a couple of times a week w/pony puffs and deep co w/heat 1x a week.

my sons get co washes everyday. my dh is the type of man that washes everyday so he already did that w/then before lhcf i just incorporated co bc poo is to drying.

and i oil everyones hair w/essential oils, bbd,s curl, coconut oil

It breaks her hair. Thats why I myself have never ever worn braids or will wear them. When she was younger I relented and had her hair braided, it grew but it had a lot of broken pieces and seemed fragile. Now that she hasn't worn them in a couple of years, her hair is looking healthy again.
braids may work for others, not us..lol

No, with my children, I have 2 girls, I wash their hair once every 2 weeks, deep condition, style using Organics Detangling Hair Lotion for kids (love this product) & Wild Growth. Now, I started using Sulfur8 Medicated in their hair and it leaves it real soft. I am going to use sulfur8 for now on their hair.
I just added pictures of my daughters.

After I chase my 2 year old down (with help from my hubby) I wash her hair with AO Honeysuckle rose shampoo and follow that up with an AO conditioner (Island naturals, honeysuckle rose or white camellia) then I set her free for about 10 minutes. I chase her down again to rinse, add Giovanni direct leave in conditioner, Lenzi's request to her scalp and an oil mixture to her hair then plait her hair up. Lasts about 2 days then I take it down to remoisturize and braid.

I'm so happy her hair is showing progress. It's past her tiny neck now. Most of it fell out at about 6 months of age! LOL

Thanks everyone for the replies, it looks like the consensus here is to just keep it simple. I was just wanting to find out what others are doing, I think I will keep my daughters regimen the same and not add anything. Wash once a week, deep condition, daily moisture, sleep w/plastic bag & satin scarf, daily multi. By the way leontyneb your daughters are adorable!!

I have 4 children
3 girls with differnt textures, my oldest I would say has 3c (4 inches past shoulder),my 5 year old has maybe 3b more wave (longest 2 inches above brastrap if she wore a bra), My baby has 3a more curl (shortest like a curly baby fro when wet).

They are the reason I found this site cuz I was searching for ways to deal with all the those heads to comb and voila this site appeared.

I basically wash everyones hair every two weeks , the youngest two I could wash every week but That's just lazyness on my part. I try to keep it simple with them just wash and twist and airdry. But my oldest is quite different she likes her hair pressed, shes is 11 in 6th grade, she is entertaining the idea of a relaxer but I am totally against but the saga continues.......She has some big hair when natural but I love the waves, I guess I will look for alternatives styles for her this year anywho I dont spend as much time doing their hair as I do mine when it comes to wash days.

:ohwell: Good Luck

So how did you style her hair without the cornrows.

My dd's has a lot of breakage in the cornrows too. But doing her hair every other day won't work for me.

good ole fashion ponytails..lol Its done to where it keeps its style for 2 days, so it doesn't have to be done every day.

I have a 9 yr old. she has thick cottonie 4a natural hair. I do the same for hair as I do mine. wash 2x weekly, deep condtion for about 2-3 hours "it makes her hair super manageable , after rinse, infusiumn, air dry with special shea butter mix I make. I MIGHT press her hair 1x a month just to see if we need to do a trim.
