I am trying to keep my hair moisturized to the 10th power. I was wondering if I'm causing any damage when I go to be w/ a plastic cap on either my entire head or my bun?

If there's anything I need to be careful of while trying to keep my ends moisturized using this method, let me know
Also, what are the benefits to this method? How do I know it's effective? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to grow my hair past my shoulders and I know this method has worked for some of you.

Thanks

Hey Bee, as far as i m concerned i dont see any negative or damage au contraire i found that the plastic cap baggy is the ultimate moisturization cause the head is allowed to sweat and i usually use it daily with mtg but i run out and plan on reordering in january so for now i just sleep in satin bonnet but if the hair dries out i pull out the plastic cap and the next day the hair is back moist without needing to add anything else like if you put wgo you wont need to reapply you can either put the plastic cap all over like i do cause i want the whole hair to benefit or if you just want to protect your ends you can rub either vaseline, castor oil or wgo or grease to your ponytail put it in a bun and just tie the plastic cap around your bun then wear a silk scarf. personally i prefer the plastic cap all over. Maybe the way i do it the only negative would be the hair stay wet/moist then when i wake up thats when i take out the plastic bag. i think it helped me grow and retain all my growth with minimal damage no matter the hairstyle

Thanks, ekomba! When I started doing this the last inch or so of my hair felt so brittle. Now, only the very ends feel brittle and I figure if I keep this up, my hair just might grow past my shoulders.

I wear a snug stocking cap on top of my baggie (when it's covering my whole head) and then a scarf on top of that. I found that when I just wore the baggie and scarf the baggie would move around a little bit and I was worried that it might be damaging my edges and temple area. The stocking cap holds the baggie in place and I get much less stress on my edges. That's the only problem I've had with the baggie method

i want to do this but my question is how do you get rid of the rustling sound? ive tried a couple of different bags and they still make noise...
help pls

What hair benefits did you receive w/ this method, Phoenix?

Actually, I just started a couple of weeks ago. But so far it has really been keeping my hair moisurized.

I wear a stocking or wig cap on top of my baggie. Since the cap is pretty snug it cuts down on a lot of the rustling...but there is still a little. I'm hoping that it sounds louder to me than it does to my husband. I guess I should ask..

I meant a stocking cap. I buy them from the beauty supply store. They're either called stocking caps or wig caps and come 2 to a pack.
