Hello ladies I have been natural for three years now and I feel like I've grown bored with my natural hair. I haven't fallen completely out of love with it but I feel blah about it. I know I don't want to relax again because I will regret it the moment I do it. I was thinking of being heat straightened but I'm scared I will damage my hair. I'm bored with my twists, braids and wng's. I'm also kinda tired of not be able to show my lenght as my hair still shrivels up to nl or sl depending on how it styled. Except when I braid it then it looks long.

I'm tired of having to wet my hair to style and my hair seems to take FOREVER to dry. I'm tired of dc'ing, cowashing, protein treatments and buying products. (All the things I used to enjoy doing)

I was thinking about having my sister make me a couple of wigs for a change. But, I'm not really a wig/weave person.

So what's a girl to do :spinning:

Right now my hair is in mini braids, just to keep myself from doing something rash. But I'm not really feeling this style right now either.

All I know is I'm hiding the scissors because I don't trust myself lol

(just hair venting and wondering has anyone else felt this way. Fortunately as the fall approaches my life is about to get really busy and I probably wont have time to think about my hair as much) :spinning::spinning:

I feel that way about my relaxed hair. I don't like the way it looks when wet, it drives m crazy! It looks paper thin I'm like where the he!! Is the rest of my hair smh. Yesterday when I cowshed it for the first time and it was wet, I wanted to just take the scissors and cut the ponytail and sport a fro but I know I would be pissed lol. I want my original color back and want to die it back but scared that it's too big of a risk and I'm trying to keep my scissors away as well so I can make it way past shoulder length for once

Then I want to do ps but my buns don't never come out right no matter what methods I try, it seems real simple on YouTube but when I go and do it, it's another story smh so my bootleg bun is doing a ponytail and not pulling it all the way through because the other way makes my hair look like a little knot and I look like my hair wouldnt come past my eye lol, just nothing is going right and since I'm ten weeks post the washing process takes a little longer because I have to be extra gentle because of the new growth and i'm impatient

I'm in the same boat as you. I got rid of the red streaks I had and put a reddish brown color in it, but I wasn't even thrilled like I used to be. Idk what to do. I think everything I do to my hair is boring. Wng. Boring. Braidout. Boring. Twistout. Boring. Flat iron. Boring. I have been having these urges to get a fade, but my head is so big... I just don't know. I guess I'm going through a phase. Oh well. :(

You have so much more versatility with your natural hair. When I feel like that I straighten it, but then I start to miss my curls so I only end up doing it once and I'm satisfied. If you want it straight longer then maybe you can get a weave?

As long as you keep it healthy. How about a nice blow out. You can try out some spicy wig styles, too. They are getting more and more realistic (I'm not talking about lace fronts).

I felt the exact same way as I was washing my hair in the shower earlier today. I thought about starting a thread about the same thing. My hair is no where near as long as yours. I'm in the dreaded in-between stage and I'm bored to death with it. I'm a staunch anti- weave/anti-wig person and I refuse to use heat. I usually twist it up, but lately I've been super lazy.

I'm natural and just cut my hair again last week at the shop. I only go to the ship twice a year to get my ends clipped but las week I told her to keep cutting :0). I swear I'm going to let it grow I guess teeheehehee. I was bored as well. Have you tried to idk different braid and twist styles??

You can always cut it as it will grow back. Life is short if you want something different than just go for it :0).

stop being scared of heat and flat iron it professionally. that fixes my boredom and its also around the time that i need a trim. a wig or weave is another option. your hair is much longer than you think it is and it will blow your mind when its straightened, this has been my experience.

Ha! I do my "buns" the same way now that I have reached shoulder length. I am so worried that I am going to chew up my ends this way.

I swear I was just thinking about posting a thread like this today. I am happy to have made it to shoulder length - longest my hair has ever been! EVER! And now I see the potential my hair has. But I am so bored. I don't know if it is because I am in that in between stage. But I can't really do much to my hair besides bunning during the week or sometimes I will wash and throw on a headband and let it airdry. It dries so thick and pretty that way. On the weekends I usually do really small sections of pin curls to have a cute little fro. but now that my hair is getting longer the pin curls are giving me a different style. One that I do not like! I am not bored just yet but getting a little frustrated that I can't do much to my hair.

You mentioned wanting to straighten but being scared of the damage. Would you be willing to try baby steps with straightening. Like just blowdrying your hair straight. No flat iron or press. My twist look very different on blow dried hair. How about, if you do flat iron or press air dry and 1-2 swipes are all you get. On the first attempt this may not give you straight hair but it will draw your length down some and allow you to ease into straightening later if that is something you want to do. If those are a "no" how about a set(straw, crimp, twist out), or updo?

Considered taking the money you used to spend on products and paying a braider (though they are expensive) for a cool style done with your own hair.

I feel you keepithealthy. I have felt the same exact way about different hair styles. My main style was twistouts and I hate how this style would just shrink above my shoulders to my ears. I can't do wigs, weaves, or extensions either. I have now decided to wear my hair blowdried (no flat ironing) and then putting it up in a pinned up protective style so I can leave my hair alone.

Maybe the truth is that it is Very Boring to watch your hair grow. Once you're all locked in with your reggie, and products...that's basically what you're doing. Watching your hair grow.

In a minute I'm going to just let my hair do its thing, and focus on my face...

Try color. I was bored with my hair, went in and had it a complete hair color make over. I am not bored anymore... Wow what a difference.

You can try blow drying your hair to wear it straight and/or flat iron once in a while. Whatever you do DON'T cut your hair. If you want to go short, just take a day and go wig shopping. There are so many wigs you can try on to see what type of look it gives you. When I get bored with my hair I go wig shopping. Attached picture of me and my wig at the Kem concert.

Wow, it must just be that time of the year, I was feeling quite down about my hair. Not bored, but flat out mad. I do all this stuff to grow out my bald spots so that I can have thick pretty hair, and what did I end up with? I ended up with a head full of thin hair. I am so mad, I mean can I catch a break? :wallbash:

Seamonster - for quite a few years I was like you - my hair was thin But mine was also a chewed up - spit out mess!!! Until II began taking care of my hair with the knowledge I gained from hair forums espeially the wonderful memebers here on LHCF. My hair grew so thick I was flabberghasted. I have two bald spots over each year (from the infamous bad weave days) but outside of that it grew nice and thick.
I think what contributed to the thickness is using castor oil, taking MSM, biotin and drinking lots of water and I cut back on the caffeine.
I started doing a lot more in terms of care this year - but the thickness occurred pre 2011 and I wasn't PS, doing GHE, etc.
If your caffeine intake is high - I would reduce it and if you smoke that may contribute to thinning as well. IDK if this will help (hope so) but it worked for me. Now I am trying to get length.

@keepithealthy

Your hair is so long and pretty. Please don't cut your hair. You already have what so many of us are still struggling to obtain - long, beautiful, thick hair.

ITA with the poster who stated - some may be getting tired of watching their hair grow. I was in that phase a few weeks ago but realized that I have other areas I want to improve on.

So I am continuing doing what I do to reach my two year HHJ goal (BSL) and taking action on other areas. (i.e. skin, weight loss) Now I don't spend time watching my hair.

When the two year day arrives - I hope all of me has improved (hair, nails, skin, physique)

I feel the same way. :ohwell: I'm MBL and always in a bun. I'm trying WnGs but mine are NL :perplexed. Twistouts give me ssk's. My last two flat irons were a fail. My wigs are the length of my hair . Oh well, I just keep in mind that God didn't make a mistake with my hair. :yep:

I'm in the same boat as you. I've just lost my mojo for my hair. I'm thinking about installing a weave or some kinky twists and just leave it alone.

Sorry about the loooong delay in replying.

I was thinking about doing this but it seems that my hair gets tangly after about 2 days.

Yes that's what it is! I'm just watching my hair grow and it's like watching water boil.

Okay ladies so I've decided to go the wig route. I'm going to buy one curly wig and one straight wig so I can switch up styles when I want to. I'll post some pics of the wigs when I get them. Thanks for the replies.

I feel you! I'm on my hhj now for 2 years and I relaxed in April. My hair is right below my shoulder blades and whenever it's gotten this long I cut it. I love short cuts but I'm trying to do something different. I'm going to halfwig it and crown and glory it for the next couple of months.
