Tips for maintaining thickness while growing hair?

I'm trying to find the best ways to grow my hair longer but retain thickness too and avoid it getting thinner and thinner.

Anyone with shoulder length or longer hair can give any suggestions that really works? I rollar set twice a week and wrap every night in a silk scarf and always wear my hair down (which is cut in layers all over).

I'd love to hear some 'thickening' tips /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks!

I mentioned this in my reponse to you in my post about protective styles. My hair(especially my ends) seem to be staying 'thick' since I got rid of my layers.

BRH, do you take any hair vitamins? I recall some posters mentioning that pantothenic acid helps with thickness (please correct me if I'm wrong, ladies).

Hope this helps!

Re: Tips for maintaining thickness while growing h

Kitkat, I know Jade21(where ever she is) definitley recommended that to several ladies who had good success with it.

KitKat,

I have been doing the B5 thing although I only started approx 3 weeks ago and haven't been religiously taking the 1,000 dosage daily which I will from now on.

Thanks!

Re: Tips for maintaining thickness while growing h

Note that the Pantothenic Acid - or B5 - will only thicken from the roots. So that won't affect the ends of the hair, but as you grow and trim off thinner ends, eventually, over time, your hair will increase in diameter right down the hair strand. The longer you take the B5 the more consistent that thickness will remain from root to tip (as you like to say BRH...LOL!). Mine did. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I also agree that protective styling elmininates adverse effects from environmental damage due to exposing the hair to the elements and rough materials like coats, scarves and shirt collars.

Thanks Tracy

Yes it looks like I'll have to cave and start pinning my hair up more..sigh..... /images/graemlins/wink.gif and be more vigilant with B5

Actually I quite like it pinned up sometimes (did it yesterday) so it'll be fine (I'm talking to myself here) lol!!!

Thanks again everyone.

I noticed that when I added a super B-complex vitamin to my vitamin regimen, my hair growth spurt really kicked in. My hair is already thick, but it seems after adding this vitamin 3 weeks ago, my hair is even more thick.

I am currently taking a modified version of the Bargello plan, but I stopped taking the UltraNourishair about 3 weeks ago, because after 2 months I really wasn't seeing a change in my hair growth.

Re: Tips for maintaining thickness while growing h

I think protective hairstyling and no heat has add lots of thickness to my hair and especially my ends. I'm not sure if it is my hair type 4a/b that makes it thick, but right now my hair thickness is out of control.

Re: Tips for maintaining thickness while growing h

My conditioner washes, protective stylying and no heat has thickened my hair.
