how long do you usually leave the treatment on?

i'm assuming the people who let it sit and then leave it on for long hours want to get the coloring benefits out of it?

but maybe i'm wrong

do any of you who use it for only conditioning/strengthening purposes leave it on for a long time?

The first time I did it, I didn't leave it on long because I was afraid (30 minutes because I didn't know how my grass would respond.) But later on I got bolder/more comfortable and would make a henna gloss (henna, oil, and conditioners) and leave it on for hours while I did housework, reading, me time, etc. I love the color and the fact that it strengthens my hair. I never use it "straight" because my hair gets too dry. HTH.

at least an hour. but you can have it on for many hours, when I henna I like to sit under the dryer for an hour then leave it on my head for several more just for the heck of it.

I only leave it on for about 20-30 minutes under the dryer and 30 minutes without. I let it rest overnight to get the dye release.

Hi Runrunrunner,
I did my first Hendigo last night. I kept the henna on overnight, 10hrs, because I felll asleep, and the Black henna for 3hrs this morning. Since it was my first, I didn't add anything to it just plain water. I followed this with a DC. My hair feels much thicker, stronger and moisturised. I will use Henna again because the conditioning properties are good, with the added bonus of using a chemical free dye. I will probably leave the Black henna on for longer next time maybe a minimum of 5hrs. DCing after should help with the dryness.

To avoid color release, I do a gloss with henna powder, amla and shikakai oil, and a moisturizing conditioner mixed together. I use the mixture right away so the color doesn't release covered with a plastic cap for an hour-NO HEAT! F/u with a moisturizing dc and you s/b good to go.

You can do it as above...the gloss w/ powder method..or you can wet your henna and let it stand about 10 mins. The put it on your head about 30 mins. You don't need heat for this as heat helps dye release. Letting your mixture stand about 10 mins before use will help get out the conditioning goodness w/o dye release.

I let the mix sit over night and then leave it on for 4 hours the next day. It makes my grey a copperish color and adds a reddish lightlight to the rest of my hair.
