Hello Sistas,
I am new to the forum and I have been surfing this site evvvvvvvvery day:user: and looking at comparison picks for inspiration and regimens. I have learned alot of things, thank you all very much. I went down to Spelman College about 3 weeks ago to help my cousin move her things in she is a first year hooray. I have noticed that alot of the girls there at Spelman hair was so nice and healthy, and even the residents of the ATL. I had the misconception that alot of girls down south wear colorful weaves...but oh no the girls in ATL put this little ol Jersey girl to shame. I went to church and everyone's hair was healthy, the mall, and just everywhere...same thing healthy hair. My friend explain to me that in ATL the salons are more focused on hair care and not hairstyling. I would love to know where I can go to in Central or Northern NJ for that type of salon.
Anyhoo that trip inspired me and to take care of my hair. I want thick, healthy, APL hair.( Its a little past my shoulders)
My ends where so dry from the affirm relaxer:cry2: . (I have to use Mizani...its the best) I didnt know what to for my ends and I wasnt about to cut them, so finally after doing research on moisturizers, I used Elasta QP mango butter OMG it had my dry brittle ends feeling like butter. :dance7: I love it. I know protecting the ends and moisture is very important for hair growth so I want to share that with you guys.
God Bless

Fellow Spelmanite here ;) (c/o 02)

Just wanted to say I used to use the Elasta QP mango butter and I liked it as well. Glad you found something that works and welcome to LHCF! :) ;)

thank you guys. I know with faith and pictures of comparrison I will make it there. Maybe 14 months:look:

actually i was just at the BSS and was looking at the Mango butter..i may go back once i get paid and restock up on it.....thats one item that did last me awhile....and that i enjoyed using....

girl i was the same way....well my thoughts were about the same...not really that most women in South were not focused on hair...but i noticed that when i was in college that most ladies that i met from Chicago and from up North had healthy hair...and i hardly ever saw these ladies wear all different color weaves or wild styles....they seemed to be more focused on healthy hair...so thats when i became inspired...i knew a couple from the South too that cared for their hair but not as well as these ladies did from up North....

times have changed but i think it depends on the area or where you travel at too....

good luck to you...

Welcome to the forum and like mentioned by the other ladies---stay true to your haircare journey and you will definitely make APL :)

Howdy neighbor and welcome to the board. I'm in a neighboring county so when you find that healthy hair salon please let me know. I've completely stopped going to the salon because I can't find anyone focused on healthy hair in our area.

I will definitely let you know joyous because I want someone to take care of my hair atleast every 3 weeks. What county are you in?

Welcome to the board!

Sounds like you've picked up a lot of really great hair health tips already! You are so right.... moisturizing and protecting those ends is KEY!!!!

HHG!!!! :)

I'm close by too and I'd like that info as well!

Despite living here for years, I have not found a salon that I really like. Some people swear by some of the Dominican salons in New Brunswick.
