Count your blessings. I bet she does horrible work like my alleged tree braider. My hair looked a hot mess. I resorted to a full synthetic lace wig & a half wig that I can wear with a headband when in a rush (no need to flat iron my hair to blend).

I thought about you - when all this was going down mama......

BTW all, she has not called or responded to any e-mails... meaning she has not picture one.........

Shameful behavior.

All is well, I will have to work it all out - but my sister is going to help me braid the back of my hair - and I will do the rest. It will take me a couple of days. But much fewer headaches......

Girl, I know what you mean. I got a number of a braider and I gave her a call. Everything was cool and she wanted me to come in, look at some pictures of her work and choose a style and then we would talk about price. I got the directions and when I driving over, I got lost. I called and she was not there. Three minutes before appointment time and someone said she was at the store.

I turned my car around and went home. One hour later she called and asked what happened. I explained to her that I was not coming to her shop if she was not there. She said, I was just at the store and I explained when I have an appointment with someone I expect them to be there, not at the store. She apologized and made another appointment and told me she would block off a Saturday to do my hair. We agreed on a two dates. One for the consultation and one for the hair appointment.

The second time I went over, I thought I was lost again. As I pulled up outside some raggy apartments, but the numbers of the address was correct. I called again. A man answered, you guessed it she was not there. I left and again she called. I told her I thought you had a shop, she said yes I do in my apartment. I said you were not there, she said my husband was there and I was on my way. She then told me I should have waited. I said that's okay, I don't need your services.

A couple of days later was the Saturday and she called again. I told her I was NOT coming to her apartment and I told her I DIDN'T need her services. She got mad and start yelling about blocking off the time, costing her money, she could have had another client. I hung up in her face. The nerve of this woman!!!

CLASSIC, CLASSIC story.

100% true - Because it has happened to all of us.

I went to one woman's house in a seriously scary part of L.A. - and a DOG jumped out in the yard! She lived in the back house....

After my heart started again...... I went into a smoke filled (hello???) place... and this woman had nails about 3.5 inches long....I thought to myself, "how in the world can this woman braid my hair?????"

DH was pushing me out the door. She never saw me again........

YEP - I got a million of em.:yep:

OH LAWD BABY!!! I wish I had written this sooner!
I did not give out names to protect the innocent and the Guilty:rolleyes:

That is ashame. Please share with us what happened ( without using names) so we know who to RUN from....:nono:

I am going to learn girl!!!! I am learning to Tree Braid honey.

I do Twists and braids now - So - anytime - come on over the hill!!!!
I got you!:yep:

Well I won't use names but...she has an ad and a myspace account that I found (and she lives in the jungles...that should be enough identifying information for y'all :look:). And yeah she had pictures up, but I realized that they weren't originally hers because I saw them on another website. But I talked to her (since she answered my email) and she said she could do them so I thought I'd give her try. I just really really wanted them done and I'm at my church convention this week so I needed my hair done so that I wouldn't even have to think about it.

Everything was fine in the beginning (I even checked a couple and they looked fine) but I don't know what happened between the beginning and the end but when I looked at the finished product I knew it was a waste of money. I could tell she didn't really know how to do the no-knot method (where you add the hair into the cornrow so that it looks like it's only your hair) because the place where she first added the hair was OBVIOUS. When I get my digital camera I might take pictures but it's ugly so maybe not.

Anyways, the hairstyle is coming out on Monday even though it'll only be 10 days since it's been in.

SJ, I really will be at your house since I already live over the hill (in studio city). I don't even mind being your tree braiding guinea pig if you need some practice while you're learning :yep::yep::yep:.

Samantha, have you tried calling OH MY NAPPY HAIR?

I live in LA too and completely agree about their lack of new braiding style type knowledge. They are literally twenty years behind the east coast in that respect, but have weave technique down pat. I just wish they chose realistic looking hair, but who is nowadays?

I hope you found someone to do them for you and if not, maybe San Francisco might be a good bet. Northern Cali is 100x's more advanced and up to date than Southern Cali.

How funny! have a story about that place too. I went in to that shop - where they told me the fee was 35 bucks a hour......:rolleyes:And the woman slipped me her phone number to get a side gig.....:perplexed Umm - no thanks you are shady.............

I kept rollin'.......... I told ya!!! I got a million stories!

I made the horrible mistake of getting microbraids when I was 18 years old. I was really sure that was what I wanted until I found myself sitting in that chair for 8 hours with a very heavy handed African braider who wasn't in the best of moods :ohwell: I had horrible headaches for the next 2 weeks (until the newgrowth started coming in) and little bumps that was all along my hairline. It hurt to frown, eat and laugh :nono: Then when it came time to take them out a few months later, scared to go back to the woman my mom helped me to take the braids out and I pulled plenty of my hair out along with them!

Everytime I had my hair braided some type of disaster occured. Its too tight/falling out/my hair line becomes a mess/bumps all over my scalp.

I like the look but seriously its more trouble then its worth IMO.

Wow... In many ways I agree.... Totally true. That is why I do mine...
