hairgirl said:It's your decision, but as for me and my head. I'm officially going natural with this new found knowledge.
so1913 said:Jabs at natural hair have been made for YEARS at " black peoples' " expense, (no need for me to elaborate on that)....No one is "safe"....I know it won't end in my lifetime. We all need to stop being so d*mn sensitive. If you are confident in your decisions, relaxed OR natural, what anyone has to say about them shouldn't bother you THAT much, goodness. In the end, you are the one combing your hair when you role out of bed in the morning.
But go ahead and get all worked up if you want to....then ask yourself why.

Sure, it looks healthy because you put all kinds of products in it, but it's really stripped down to nothing. Relaxers also burn, and why would anyone want to burn their scalp? Here are several acticles that back me up, and hopefully you will see what I see. Now, my hair is beautiful and healthy, and I get tons of compliments, not like when I was a slave to the relaxer! And most of them are from white people!!! For those who still choose to use the creamy crack, don't be offended. Just keep it moving!"

Hey you all are great I thank you for posting. At the end of the day, please wish me adieu in my natural journey. I'm excited and so is my significant other. Luv ya all!!!!

I'm just going to say this...I don't think the relaxed heads on this board have any problems with anyone going natural. For me, I get annoyed with this:

I mean, is all that necessary? No. There just seem to be jabs made at our expense, but we aren't allowed to get defensive or start "wars". It just gets tiresome, is all. If you are truly secure in your own choices, you don't have to reference anyone else.

I think that sometimes people feel naturals can be pushy with thier information.(i say this from experience) I know a natural that smokes...?? And another who lives on BK & Mickey D's...where's the balance? You're saving yourself from being bald in 25 yrs but you may not even be alive. And then there's the newest natural, Cathy Howse, the crook!![]()
Hair breakage usually can't be explained in 1 thing. It can be a combination of many things. Women of other nationalities suffer from breakage, women that don't use relaxers. Breakage can be caused by a poor diet, genetics, manipulation, etc. we all know.
As long as you: have a smile on your face, if your hair is kinky or straight, your heart is beating with love to give that's all you really need to live![]()
Hairgirl--Good luck in your decision to go natural. You will have MORE than enough information to help you here!!

lauren450 said:Who's worked up? Like you said, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Why is it that when I give mine, I'm defensive, sensitive, and worked up? Such the double standard.
Besides, two wrongs don't make a right. Just because people make jabs at you in life doesn't mean it's ok for others on this board to make jabs at relaxed people. Please don't work out your issues with "society" on those of us who are relaxed.
Good luck, and I think it's great that your SO is so supportive.
