ok so right now i am 6 months post relaxer and i have gotten a lot of growth but i also see that a small section of my hair has thinned out and some of the ends are pretty damaged. I've already started to trim a little here and there but i DO NOT want to cut my hair lol it's finally getting to the length that i want. i was wondering if you guys knew of any other things i could try instead of cutting. will protein help? and just trimming every 3 weeks? p.s i dont plan on perming my hair until right before xmas or maybe not until next year. i have been wearing sew ins to protect my hair....i thought they were my friend but maybe not lol

My experience with thin/damaged ends is if I don't cut them off, they will break off on their own and I'll end up losing the length I was trying to hold onto anyway. Some people prefer to baby them and wear them in protected styles. Maybe that will help you hold onto them but to me it seems that the longer I hold onto them, the more they seem to extend up the shaft so that I end up with see-through hair.

Protein won't help the hair that is already damaged. You can try products that will help "mask" the damage, but nothing can reverse it. Make sure you do not overdo the protein.
