Thick haired sistahs -- how is your style?

the key for me is sections. my hair is way too thick to just put stuff on top of my head and expect it to get on ALL my hair. :lachen:

I'm pretty boring. For the last 13 months it's been buns, snoods, bun cages, bun nets and my UPA clip.

I'm about to go for my 3,694th attempt at rollersetting tonight, hopefully it'll come out half decent this time. I'm finally at APL and I wanna wear my hair out for a while to celebrate :yahoo:

Let us know how it comes out (ahem, PICS :))

When I'm DIY pressed I always have to wear it half up when I want my hair down. Every now and then a fluke occurs and I;m able to wear it all down when I've styled myself...haha.

Otherwise I wear my fro poof, a French roll, or a pony tail. Woot!

When I'm lucky to catch my hair in a semi damp state I can get it all into one pony for a bun. If my hair is completely dry I split it in two sections ( top & bottm ) and twist the bottom section up towards the top like a french twist. Then I swirl the top half into the bun and include the hair I have left over from the twist at the bottom. I'll have to do it and take a pic.

But on those mornings where I just want to hack it off, splitting it into two sections saves me. Sometimes I split into sections and kind of twist it towards the back of my head then pin at the crown. I take what ever hair is left over and fashion it into a sort of bun - I usually do this when my ends are curly - i.e rollerset on horribly wrong.

once the hair fully dries, that's the end of it.

this is the only way i can handle my loose hair too and unless a person has really thick hair, they can not even begin to understand what you go through

i like the ease of pony puffs and i'll use a big ponytail elastic and just open it and stuff my hair in it without having to double it up. the hair just fills up all the space and it stays that way.

if i want to wear a pretty barrette, i gotta do the split in 2 trick.

i love twists, flat twists and twist-outs and will rock them frequently. once in a blue moon i'll throw in some box braids.

i've only tried buns with straightened or blowdried hair.
