But that doesn't include permanent red right? Because I would assume if it permanent it wouldn't fade.... I know why it fades, I know all about the molecules and everything just not sure if it applies for permanent

Yes it does.
 
I agree with PP and IME its one of the hardest colors to keep red. Some people will use a permanent red color first then when slowly starting to fade will apply a red semi-permanent color over it to keep from retouching the color too soon. But they also have some shampoo/conditioners for color-treated hair to make the color last longer. Using a harsh shampoos can strip the color some over time.
 
Yes it does. I used to always dye my hair a reddish brown that would look very reddish when I first did it but would eventually fade completly to a brownish color. I also would wait 4 months sometimes to color my hair so that's part of it.

Rinses and color glazes are awesome to keep reds from fading in between color retouches.
