I love black hair also, and recently used Bigen to color. I used Oriental Black. I think it's #59. I did an allergy test (on my inside elbow, as directed) 48 hours before, and I had no reaction. If you continue using, you need to perform the allergy test each time, even if you didn't have a reaction the previous time(s).
Mmmmm:rolleyes: I may go ahead and do the Bigen in 2 weeks or so. Can you ladies that use Bigen post a pic of the box you use, cause like I said b4 I seen 3 different boxes and I dont know what makes them different.

I think the opposite. I'm a medium color and I think blue black hair on me would make me look pale or like I"ve seen a ghost. I would LOVE to have jet black, blue black hair. I think jet black hair on a mocha chocolate girl would look FABULOUS!
ETA~ I do henna/indigo with my mixture being a warm black.
I would love to use henna but I will probably make a mess.

I have tried pretty much every shade imaginable and I can truly say that I love black the most. It makes my skin glow and my eyes pop. The other colors were okay but I adore having my hair jet black. I have dyed it jet black once permanently but I use rinses primarily when I am coloring. It's been nearly a year since I last colored my hair though.

...see ya'll gonna make me go home and bust out the new camera and take some pics:grin: I just got a relaxer yesterday and I love the way it came out only..i NEED to do my black rinse again!!! Two weeks ago I mixed beautiful browns jet black with Kiss jet black and although it came out GREAT, it was all over my shirt collars and my pillow cases. I went black almost two years ago and LOVED the shine and the healthy look as I grew tired of my henna brownish/red. Since then I've been using Bigen and rinses but the color doesn't seem to last. Any ladies ever try Clairol Natural Instincts semi-perm black?? I think its called Midnight Black. That's what I want to try next!

Can you ladies tell me how the rinses work on grey hair? I have a friend who is looking for alternatives and she doesn't want to go with the henna/Indigo route but she doesn't want permanent color either.

I did not know what to tell her.

I love black hair also. I just can't do blue black. (even though I love it!) It look beautiful on women with more color or medium to dark skin. :imo:
Blue Black made me look washed out. :(

She can do a rinse. It will cover the gray hairs.

Awww, thank you so much! For the spiral set, I used 1" magnetic rollers with the snap-on covers. If you do one, please post a pic.

Thanks for the info! I definitely will post. That way I can show the curls and the new hair color! I have some 1" perm rods at home and I think I will try them out again!

I've been using the NI line for months now...I just picked up the Midnight one this weekend!! I can't wait to cover this Egyptian Plum with black!!

I dye mine black (permanent color) and I've been doing so since the early 2000's... but the thing is, you cannot color over top of permanent black so unless you are married to the color, don't do it!

I like Clairol Instincts. Id probably only use it maybe once every 3 months or so because its acts as a demi-perm color which means it has peroxide in it.
Dont get me wrong, I LOVE it and it really helped me to achieve that JET black color. I rinse every two weeks or so to make sure my color stays JET black.
Yes i am obsessed with black!

For the ladies that rinse, how often are you applying your rinses, and how frequently do you shampoo? Also, do you do cowashs or anything like that in between?

I'm going to try Clairol Beautiful Collections BLACK in a few weeks.(no ammonia, no peroxide) You ladies have got me so encouraged. I can't wait.:yep:

I'm obsessed with getting my hair the blackest it can get!
I use to do a jet black rinse every 2-4 weeks,:look: but I've calmed down some.
To me, my hair is never black enough, which makes me want to go ahead and try Bigen. It's suppose to give the blackest hair!

So far, I like Jazzing Jet Black. Clairol Beautiful Collection in jet black was so drying! Henna + Indigo was too much work :ohwell:

Hey ladies I have been using a rinse called "adore" it comes in a purple and yellow bottle..U should be able to get it at your local bss. Personally I tried bigen and if you have any any allergies please beware.. I discovered I am allergic to bee stings??? who knew!! Which means I cannot use semi-permanent dyes... Go figure I would wonder why my ears would swell and I would break out in hives!!!! ...Jazzing was kinda drying to me. Adore worked really good and gave me that blue black I wanted!!

now, I just have like a general question. . . and I hope I am saying it right. A lot of the ladies that get black rinses are fairly light or like brownskin. . . I am fairly dark & and i really like BLACK BLUE just tar black hair . I mean it looks healthier and always looks luscious. My hair is currently it's natural color which is 1bish (for all my wiggy, weavy chicks). . . what do ya'll think about a lot of dark skin and a lot of dark hair. I just think it would look pretty gothish. :lachen:

my niece has jet black hair AND i just saw BRANDY on tyra her hair looked BEAUTIFUL i am really light and i think somtimes black looke a little harsh on me too:ohwell:

I color my hair (with a permanent), but I have hard water and it fades the black, so I rinse regularly. I shampoo once a week, and *may* co-wash 1-2x/week. For the most part, I do not co-wash, as my rinses tend to last the minimum 4 washes.

I love jet black hair also!... I normally Henna + Indigo, but that's so messy and time consuming. I'm considering using Clairol Beautiful Collections/Jet Black...

Hey...I rinse very often; my natural hair color is a dark reddish brown so as soon as I get growth you can tell. Probably rinse every 2-4 weeks. My hair has been growing fast since sticking to a kiss regimen(will update my avatar in 6 months) and hair that is not well maintained when it comes to color and health is a :nono: for me..

Rinse regimen:
-prepoo with a tresemme conditioner
-Rinse out cond. and apply rinse thoroughly
-put on plastic cap and sit under hair dryer for about 25 minutes
-I leave it in for an additional 30 minutes (the color will look so vibrant)
-Shampoo with Con (2x)
-Deep condition with Silicon Mix
-Rollerset with Silicon Mix leave-in

Results: Smooth, BLACK, Fluffy hair:grin:
