I just went to the beauty supply store looking for some hair. I wanted to make my own 3/4 weave (thats another thread I want to start...but anyway). So I'm looking at weave hair and the price has nearly doubled!!  I use to get Otrue primium 12in human hair for $23.00 including tax. Today the price is $39.00. I was like this must be cuticle hair. The woman said NO...the prices have gone up do to high demand and low supply. :ohwell: I got to thinking.... Yes, weaves, falls, ect.. have become more mainstream, even white people are getting in on the game, is this just companies getting greedy? It's not like the hair is new and improved. Its the same stuff.

That's why I rather wait for my own hair to get long so I wouldn't have to pay outrageous prices like this!

Well, if the company can charge more for the product without losing customers/demand then why not? They are in it to make money. This may stink for the consumer but ultimately they are responsible to their shareholders and need to make money.

This is why I choose not to wear weaves because I cannot justify paying those prices. And you want any kind of decent hair that will last you need to pay a fair sum.

DO you think it may be in certain areas? I was at a BSS this weekend with a friend of mine who was actually replacing her synthetic fall with a human hair one. The prices were still the same as before.

This is just another reinforcement of why I want to grow my own hair out.:(

Supply and demand....sucks but as long as people are willing to pay, they will continue to charge. Just like the lace fronts, some of those sell upwards of 500 dollars or more.

Yes... BSS's in more affluent areas charge more for the same products. The ones in Owings Mills around here charge more than the ones near my house in Randallstown.

Now that I think about it $23 sounds about right for a pack of 12 inch hair. $39.00 is way too much. You could probably get a pack of 20 inch hair for that price. I would suggest you check another store in your area. They have lost their minds at the store you went to. I used to buy the Outre platinum new yaki when I was relaxed and wearing straight hair weaves. I could get a pack of 12 and a pack of 14 or two packs of 14 for a little over $50. It used to come to like $56.
