The Woes of Deep Conditioning?

I've ran out of all most every conditioner that I own. I'm so happy, lol. Now can bulk up again. It seems like I have to use 3x as much conditioner to condition on dry hair than if I had done it on wet hair. What do you ladies think? Do use alot more on dry hair?

Hrm. I think I use about the same amount on wet hair vs. dry hair. It's usually about 10 to 12 oz of con, whether it's on wet hair or on dry hair. Using con on wet hair is basically watering it down, so you could use less and still get full coverage - but it would be like adding water to your conditioner bottle to start with, ya know?

yep I use more on dry hair....I guess it's because wet hair can kinda trick you because the water gives it a teeny bit of slip already so you feel as you need less on wet.

I definitely use more on dry hair. I now pre poo with coconut oil and use my deep conditioners after I shampoo when my hair is slightly damp (not soaking wet).

yeah i just started deep conditioning on dry hair because of convenience and that kinda blew me that i use alot more conditioner on dry hair. i thought i went through alot of conditioner before. good gracious, i dont know if my pockets are ready.

Oh yea....I always felt that when my hair is wet its flatter, so the condtioner gets to the top of the hair and roots all at once, then you just hit the ends and my length is all about covered also. When its dry im partinng and conditoning the first inches of my hair, then the top, then the ends, then the length. Lots more.

I think i use more conditioner wet or dry period... I dont know if its my heavy hands or the fact that i feel more conditioner= better results but those little jars of ntm mask can literally get used up on one side of my hair thats why i have to buy my conditioners by the liter online.... my hair laffs at those little bottles at the bss...

I use waaaaay more on dry air, so i apply similar to loulou. I pre-poo with oil over night then wash and wring my hair and then wait half an hour before applying the DC.. so my hair is not completely wet just a little damp.

I use waaaay more conditioner on my dry hair. Just like I use more moisturizer when my hair is dry than when its wet. It just spreads better on wet hair.:yep:

Yeah, I use tons of conditioner on dry hair. That's why I don't spend a lot on conditioner and buy it in large sizes whenever possible.

I think I read on this board somewhere that conditioner penetrates much better on dry hair than on wet hair because hen hair is wet, there is water in the hair and on the hair shaft. The poster analogized wet/dry hair to a wet/dry sponge.

On dry hair, the hair shaft isn't filled with water so I think it's automatic that you'll have to use more conditioner in order to achieve what appears to be the same amount of 'saturation' that you would if the hair is wet.

I don't even know if all that makes sense. It makes sense in my head, lol. I'm not sure that I typed it out correctly.

I definitely use more conditioner on dry hair than on wet hair.

During these tough economic times,:wallbash: I now know that my conditioner can go further on wet hair, so I better not change my regimen by experimenting with dry hair.:nono: Conditions are going to get worse. :wallbash:

I noticed that too (Actually just this evening- I'm DCing as I type). I go through conditioner a whole lot faster on dry hair. I'm assuming it is because it can absorb more since it is not already wet :perplexed

If you dont use an expensive conditioner you will be ok. :yep: I use LeKair Cholesterol mixed with honey as my DC. It comes in a big tub and I get quite a few uses out of it.
