The verdict is in!!! Molasses is now a staple for me....

Beauty IS skin deep.
I used it the last time I did a prepoo and it left my hair kinda hard. I realized it was because I didn't put enough conditioner on my hair to balance it out. Well, I tried it again today, using a little bit more conditioner and a little bit of Africa's Best Herbal Oil (trying to get rid of it).

I commented last time about after using molasses in my prepoo, I experienced a lot less shedding and breakage than I am accustomed to. I attributed this to using MTG daily, mainly because the molasses left my hair hard. Well, I tried it again today and lo and behold, I got the same results. A lot less shedding and breaking, and this time, my hair wasn't as hard as it was before. I used just a little bit more conditioner this time. There was no tub/sink full of hair, and my comb was virtually hair free, except for the occasional stray hair here and there. So, from this point on, molasses is now a staple of mine.

I remember doing a molasses treatment years ago. I might have to revist it again. Thanks for your review and I am glad you found something that works.

I've been meaning to try some molasses w/ my deep conditiner for a while. I've been using honey for the longest and I hear that molasses is just as good esp. for those w/ dark hair.

Yes, you ladies should definitely try it. I'm going to try to be consistent w/ it, using in as a prepoo at least once a week. At first I didn't like it, but I love it now!!

I agree. I use an all natural pre poo product that contains molasses, honey, banana, cornstarch, and one other thing. And it works pretty good ;)

I used to do a prepoo with molasses, a pureed banana, wheat germ, etc. I have it posted in a thread in the fall of 2006. I have to find it to remember what all went into that. It was great...I try so many different things that sometimes it takes me a while to come back around, but I am working my back to that.

Curious about something here. That's the second time I heard something about cornstarch. What exactly are the benefits of it, especially benefits in terms of applying on hair? Thanks!!

This thread is right on time

I have just purchased some mollasses to try and was planning to use it in two weeks time as I am using Aubrey Organics GBP tomorrow and was not sure about combining the two.

Do you only use the molasses with a moisturising conditioner?

Thanks in advance?

I just mix it with a cheapie conditioner like Suave or V05 and some oil. Be sure that you use enough conditioner and oil though. That molasses can get very sticky and hard.

Side note: I did this yesterday and I still am seeing minimal breakage/shedding.
