Hi! I haven't been here for awhile because I have discovered my Holy Grail of haircare, and it is as the title of the thread stated, simplicity. I remember reading on here what other women said about simplifying their routine is what helped them, but the product junkie in me just couldn't comply. My discovery was more of an accident than anything I planned. I never would have even thought to use one of the products if I hadn't been forced to stop using my usual shampoo.
Awhile ago, I had developed a SEVERE reaction to a hair dye by Aubrey Organics. When I say severe I mean SEVERE. My face had swollen to the point where I could not open my eyes. My face burned, the skin on my ears would blister, weep, and peel; and I couldn't lay down flat or the symptoms would get worse. The allergic reaction was so severe that after the swelling portion on my neck went down, my skin in that area lost it's pigmentation. It took months for my correct color to return. Strangely enough it seemed as though the product was still in my system and the reaction would occasionally return even though I no longer used the product, it was still partially on my hair.
After my reaction to the Aubrey Organics, my scalp became sensitive to Elucence shampoo. Elucence was my favorite shampoo EVER. When I used the Elucence my scalp would itch severely. I knew I needed a really gentle product that was hypoallergenic so I bought the Johnson's Head to Toe baby bath.
When I used the Johnson's, I was surprised at how soft my hair felt while washing it. I figured that was just a fluke and it would harden as usual after it dried. I knew I needed to condition so I used the Hello Hydration that I had already switched to. When I got out of the shower I looked in the mirror and my hair was shiny and it felt very soft to the touch. What really surprised me was the way it dried. It didn't draw up, it was soft, and still shiny, and I got very little breakage. I did not apply any other products to my hair.
I decided to continue using the Johnson's and Clairol combo and continued to get the same results. When I finally used another shampoo, the Giovanni Triple Tea Treat, my hair was harder than when I used the Johnson's. The product junkie in me didn't want to believe that anything so cheap and simple could make such a HUGE difference in my hair, but my hands, my eyes, and my comb made me a believer.
My search is over, and I am so happy that what I found at the end of my hair care product search rainbow was something very inexpensive and easy to find. I am no longer even tempted to try the latest, greatest thing on the market for hair. The latest, greatest thing for my hair is already here.
