Anyone familiar with the book or watching the mini-series on Lifetime? This one for me is a no go:nono:. The movie tells Dinah's side of the events of Genesis 34. For me it is about as appealing as "historical" accounts of slaves who were madly in love with the slave owners and eagerly awaited their forced trysts... Rape is not funny to me-period.:perplexed

Here's what the bible has to say-34 Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land. 2 When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and raped her. 3 His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob; he loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her.

Oh great, the rapist spoke tenderly after the rape...

Maybe I'm trippin'. I just would've appreciated this being clearly marked as artistic license. Then again this is Hollyweird....:spinning:

OASN, Women of the Bible was good IMHO. The reenactments are so-so and I wish they had captured more women of color (like Zipporah) but the commentaries from the biblical authorities are on point.

I was not aware of this but a feature on this girl's experience and her brother's rage is not entertaining. She was a victim and marrying him was terrible.

Lifetime is 'reaching'....

 Yes, they are... I just watched the final part. There is precious little truth in it. I guess the movie was entertaining enough but...:spinning::look:

I'll try and catch the repeat airings. :yep: I'm glad you brought this up Prudent1; the truth about these movies needs to be shared so that people are not mislead.

Many people will see the movie and take it verbatim as fact. Thank God for those like you who speak up.

BTW: Happy Birthday Jesus to you and your precious family. :love3:

:bighug:

I'd seen all the previews and decided not to watch I figured it was biblical based on the previews so I wanted to avoid it...stumbled on it last night and watched the last hour of the first half and then all of the second half (though I wasn't suppose to watch).

What did I expect ...actually I didn't expect the sex scenes to be so explicit ...when you hear biblical you think wholesome and family. I didn't expect them to stick with the story line of the bible because they never do...The story line was totally twisted I can only pray that the watchers actually picked up their bibles afterwards to get the true account of the
story.
