The Original Fine hair thread 2014 **

My current hair. Getting thicker. :heart2: Still daily oiling. Heavy oils are definitely for me. I picked up Doo Gro Hair Vitalizer, I think it's called. It's been working good. DC'd a few days ago.

oh I just realized I never got around to showing a picture of current length

my hair does Well with blue magic coconut oil. although there is petrolium it does well keeping my hair soft.

i also realized that s curl gel gives me moisturized hair. today i tried some ors carrot oil and my hair is soft!
i guess the combo of s curl gel + ors carrot oil is fine in my hair.
i need to right that down to remember, then keep trying stuff and taking notes.

Y'all I just tried Blue Magic Coconut oil today. It gave me unknown levels of moisture :creatures

you see!

i tried it on my younger sons hair , just water then blue magic coconut. it comes out so soft! his hair seems 4a.

my oter son has 3a-b type (sometimes seems caucasian type... wierd but my boyfriend is mixed so that explains) well for him water and pure coconut : soft moisturized hair and lots of curls.

Hello ladies. May I join? I could definitely use some tips!

hair type: fine, med density, mostly coarse no, curl pattern except around sides and nape area.
length: shoulder
Goal: BSL
natural/relaxed/texlaxed : natural
porosity (if you know): don't know
Reggie: weekly cleanse and DC, protective style 80% of the time. Light protein 2x a month, thinking about trying something stronger. Henna every 6 weeks and other ayurvedic treatments/DC from time to time.
any hair secret/advice you got ? No advice or secrets yet in here to learn. Been natural 4 yrs 1BC and 3 minis, retaining length has been my biggest issue.

welcome in!

concerning retention, i personally started retaining when i started dusting and using a little heat to stretch (tension method)

whats new ladies?

im now 5 months post.... seems like im transitionning again! weird me huh?

i was natural 6 years and at bsb, relaxed in november 2013, im now 5 month post and handling it kinda easy.

i like the fast time it takes doing me relaxed hair but i miss the volume i had, so im just stretching but seems im might trànsition back.
decisions decisions :-/

PRESENT YOURSELF

hair type:3c/4a
length:BSB
Goal:waist length
natural/relaxed/texlaxed :texlaxed
porosity (if you know):normal to high porosity
Reggie:Wash once a week to once every 2 weeks.
Deep condition with every wash
protein treatment with ors hair mayo as needed.
Apply leave in and seal with hemp seed butter
Put in bun or wash and go.
Straighten no more than once every 2 months.
any hair secret/advice you got ? Deep condition with a good deep conditioner with every wash.
Leave hair alone. The more you do to it the more hair you lose.
Don't use heat too often. That caused me a really bad set back. It thins my hair out something terrible.

picture for those wanting to share a starting pic

I'm glad I found this thread. A place for us fine haired ladies to come together and share advice.

My hair has been growing nicely but I'm a slow grower. I don't eat right take a multi vitamin or exercise though. I know I could do better with my hair but for now I've been leaving it alone and that seems to work.

I'm also afraid to retexlax my hair because it's hard to tell where the new growth is. I don't want to over process my hair because it looks so good in a wash and go. I don't want to lose that. I think I'm going to stretch for at least 6 months but maybe up to a year. Just to insure I don't over process.

Hang in there!!!!!!!I am.

Thank you!

I need to stretch my hair more often. Right now I only do it every few months. I plan on cutting an inch or two in a July to get rid of the color on my ends.

how many months post are you?

im 5 and i can push more... i can now feel the difference between my new growth and relaxed hair. especially at the crown

I am also 5 months also. I cut off at least 50 percent of my relaxed ends this week.

How are you styling your hair now. I do braid out and my hair is shorter than neck length now that I cut off most of the relaxed ends off but I think by the end of the year most of those ends will be gone.

This is not my first time transitioning. I have learned so much from this forum and from my own mishaps and I feel more confident now about styling and what and what not to do to have healthy natural hair. I was in denial for so many years that my hair was fine and now I embrace it.

Best,
Almond Eyes

oh yeah you are gonna get rid of that relaxed hair fast. no long transition then.

as for me, i was 6 years natural in november then relaxed. yup im transitionning back. had fun with my relaxed hair but i guess i will have more volume natural . the stylist relaxed to much for my virgin relaxer. it was cute though and so shiny.

for the moment i style by clipping my hair up with a nice cute front hawk (fringe)?
im plànning on braiding my hair too. when im less lazy and tired (so much work at my job).

im gonna then try half wigs, and try learning to self weave.

What light/medium protein treatments are you all using? I have SSI Okra in my stash and it doesn't seem like I need to dc afterward (although the instructions say to). I don't usually DC after light protein treatments. My hair felt soft after using the Okra. I went ahead and used a DC afterward anyway. Probably didn't need to.

im used to aphogee 2 min. it has great slip. when natural i would pree poo with oil and protein treatment, then wash. ( it was easier that way).
im transitionning back now.

id love to try other stuff but the 2 min works well on me. i aldo tried a loreal treatment, works wonders and has slip ( seems a bit stronger then the apoghee 2 min though)

I was using Okra but it didn't feel like it was strengthening my hair. I like it tho. Other than that I'm usin SD MSI and Millcreek Keratin Conditioner.

Babygrowth I don't feel like it's doing much strengthening either. It's more like a light protein treatment for me imo, similar to SD MSI. It's probably good to have around to make sure that I'm getting my protein in. When I read of it giving ppl protein overload, I'm looking like :look:

With Komaza, when I rinse, I feel that my hair is extra strengthened and I need to follow it with something moisturizing. Same with spraying Aphogee Green Tea & Keratin.

I think I will revisit the Shea Moisture Tahitian Noni mask soon. That was more medium to me...but I will revisit to make sure.

Chile, why are you transitioning already? Didn't you just relax a couple months ago? coolsista-paris

Right now I'm using BASK whiskey soak.

oh, can you color on top of it? or maybe you prefer cutting because it was planned?

I think the color damaged my hair. I was looking at pictures before the color and my hair seemed fuller, healthier, and retained moisture better. I thought about putting a rinse over it but I think I'm just going to cut the ends.

I've said before that my hair loves oils. I have found out that my hair's true love is specifically Argan/Moroccan oil. My hair has never felt so healthy and looked so shiny without looking greasy omg. It also smells so good. I 'll probably stick to Argan/Morrocan oil, Keratin Oil and Coconut oil from now on.
