I haven't tried it yet, but her results are gorgeous!! and i think she is 4a/b, so I'm sure it would work...
 
I know my hair is shorter than hers, but this is the method I used for my siggy. :yep: I'm a 4b.

I would try this with a banana clip.

She is definitely 4a/b, although most of the current videos show her hair in a stretched state.

This is a good texture shot of her hair. @laurend, her hair doesn't look like your texture (I did laurend's hair once), but I think it could have similar results. Have you tried bantu knot outs, on wet or dry hair? I think dry hair would give the softer beach waves look.
 
I never knew it was considered beach waves. I just called it a loose twistout, lol.
 
I absolutely love that style. I will try it after my graduation to stretch out my relaxer.
