The "multicultural" church...

Hi Ladies!

I know not many of you know me. I am kind of a lurker :look: but I'm trying to get a little better about that...

Well, I am looking for a church home and thought I would check in to see if anyone had any suggestions.

It is coming up on a year since I moved to the Atlanta area and I have yet to find a church.:nono: I feel so bad about it since I came from a church where I was in the pews faithfully every Wednesday, Friday and twice on Sunday. :lachen:But I said I was going to give myself until August to get it together and nail one down. I have actually visited A LOT of great ministries...the worship was genuine, the word was true, the members were friendly...

But I really want to find a church that is not all one race :ohwell:

I hope I am not being offensive. I actually grew up in a quote/unquote "black church," so I know from experience that you can definitely get fed the Word and grow in your walk with Christ.

But since going away to college I have grown to enjoy a different style of worship, sort of like Hillsong (don't know if anyone's familiar with them...) with a praise band and all. And I would just like to join a mixed congregation, in general.

Does anyone know of any multicultural churches in the Atlanta area? I live on the east side in Lithonia.

Now, I preface that I have never been to either of these church, but I would check it out:

The Church
Atlanta West Pentecostal Church is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International. We are located in Lithia Springs, Georgia. We are a multi-cultural church with many ministries and opportunities available. We believe that at Atlanta West, there is a "place for you."

I like multicultural churches. Neighborhoods, and schools too. It's how I grew up and therefore what I relate to best. So, I hope no one here would find that offensive. Have you spoken to co-workers? Friends at the gym? Relatives etc to find out where you can find a good multicultural church? Of course the main thing is that you pray and ask God where he wants you to be and then keep visiting churches!
Here are some links to some churches in your area. Best wishes!

http://www.freechapel.org/ ( I actually have family that belong here. It's awesome)

Also try going to the websites of Hillsong and ministries like that. Sometimes they have links that will show you sister or affliated churches in an area. You can visit some that way too. Best wishes!

OP, what if God wants you to go to a church that's not "multicultural"?

That's very possible.

I'm not quite sure how I would feel about that...or how I would even know if that is His will for that matter. :perplexed

But I will definitely keep that possibility in mind when I get closer to making a definite decision. For now, I will keep looking. My friends tell me all the time that "there is no perfect church." I understand what they're saying but I figure with all the churches here there's gotta be one close to what I have in mind.

I thought about maybe joining two churches, going to one's early service and the other's regular service...:look:
