Pope Endorses “World Political Authority”

By Cliff Kincaid

Some in the media are calling it just a statement about "economic justice." But Pope Benedict XVI's "Charity in Truth" statement, also known as an encyclical, is a radical document that puts the Roman Catholic Church firmly on the side of an emerging world government.

In explicit and direct language, the Pope calls for a "true world political authority" to manage the affairs of the world. At the same time, however, the Pope also warns that such an international order could "produce a dangerous universal power of a tyrannical nature" and must be guarded against somehow.

The New York Times got it right this time, noting the Pope's call for a world political authority amounted to endorsement of a New World Economic Order, a long-time goal of the old Soviet-sponsored international communist movement. Bloomberg.com highlighted the Pope's call for a new world order with "teeth."

The Pope's shocking endorsement of a "World Political Authority," which has prophetic implications for some Christians who fear that a global dictatorship will take power in the "last days" of man's reign on earth, comes shortly after the United Nations Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis issued a call for global taxes and more powerful global institutions. U.N. General Assembly President, Miguel D'Escoto, a Communist Catholic Priest, gave a speech at the event calling on the nations of the world to revere "Mother Earth" but concluded with words from the Pope blessing the conference participants.

The controversial Papal statement comes just before a meeting of the G-8 nations and a scheduled meeting between the Pope and President Obama at the Vatican on July 10.

Sounding like Obama himself, Pope Benedict says this new international order can be accomplished through "reform of the United Nations Organization, and likewise of economic institutions and international finance, so that the concept of the family of nations can acquire real teeth."

The "teeth" may come in adopting the global environmental agenda, which the Pope warmly embraces.

Sounding like Al Gore, the Pope said that one pressing need is "a worldwide redistribution of energy resources, so that countries lacking those resources can have access to them." He adds that "This responsibility is a global one, for it is concerned not just with energy but with the whole of creation, which must not be bequeathed to future generations depleted of its resources."

"The Church has a responsibility towards creation and she must assert this responsibility in the public sphere," he explains.

In a statement that sounds like an endorsement of a new global warming treaty, which will be negotiated at a U.N. conference in December, the Pope says, "The international community has an urgent duty to find institutional means of regulating the exploitation of non-renewable resources, involving poor countries in the process, in order to plan together for the future."

"The technologically advanced societies can and must lower their domestic energy consumption, either through an evolution in manufacturing methods or through greater ecological sensitivity among their citizens." he declares.

In terms of how this new "world political authority" should look, the Pope says that it, too, should have "teeth" in the form of "the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties, and also with the coordinated measures adopted in various international forums." Pope Benedict declares that "such an authority would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all, regard for justice, and respect for rights."

But the document, which is more than 30,000 words long, is contradictory in that it pretends that a world government can co-exist with freedom and democracy. For example, the statement calls for "a greater degree of international ordering, marked by subsidiarity, for the management of globalization." The term "subsidiarity" is usually defined as having matters handled by local authorities, not international bureaucrats.

In another example of double-speak, the Pope declares that "Globalization certainly requires authority, insofar as it poses the problem of a global common good that needs to be pursued. This authority, however, must be organized in a subsidiary and stratified way, if it is not to infringe upon freedom and if it is to yield effective results in practice."

He doesn't explain how it will be possible for citizens to influence or control this "world political authority" when they are under its bureaucratic control.

In the statement about how the New World Order could turn into a tyranny, the Pope is also contradictory, declaring that "...the principle of subsidiarity is particularly well-suited to managing globalization and directing it towards authentic human development. In order not to produce a dangerous universal power of a tyrannical nature, the governance of globalization must be marked by subsidiarity, articulated into several layers and involving different levels that can work together."

Against, he doesn't explain how people on the local or even national levels will be able to resist this tyranny.

In a strong endorsement of foreign aid, the Pope says that "In the search for solutions to the current economic crisis, development aid for poor countries must be considered a valid means of creating wealth for all."

But there must be more. He says that "...more economically developed nations should do all they can to allocate larger portions of their gross domestic product to development aid, thus respecting the obligations that the international community has undertaken in this regard."

This statement seems to be an urgent call for fulfilment of the U.N.'s Millennium Development Goals, which involve an estimated $845 billion from the U.S. over a ten-year period.

The Pope goes on to say that the social order should conform to the moral order, but the fact is that on moral issues such as abortion and homosexuality, the agenda of the United Nations is opposed to that of the Catholic Church. Even on capital punishment, there is disagreement. The U.N. opposes it while traditional church teaching (Section 2267 of the Catholic Catechism) allows it in certain cases.

In his statement, the Pope declares that "Some non-governmental Organizations work actively to spread abortion, at times promoting the practice of sterilization in poor countries, in some cases not even informing the women concerned. Moreover, there is reason to suspect that development aid is sometimes linked to specific health-care policies which de facto involve the imposition of strong birth control measures. Further grounds for concern are laws permitting euthanasia as well as pressure from lobby groups, nationally and internationally, in favour of its juridical recognition."

What he doesn't mention is that some of these groups operate through and with the support of the United Nations.

Pope calls for 'God-centered' global economy

By Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY

Pope Benedict XVI today called for reforming the United Nations and establishing a "true world political authority" with "real teeth" to manage the global economy with God-centered ethics.

In his third encyclical, a major teaching, released as the G-8 summit begins in Italy, the pope says such an authority is urgently needed to end the current worldwide financial crisis. It should "revive" damaged economies, reach toward "disarmament, food security and peace," protect the environment and "regulate migration."

Benedict writes, "The market is not, and must not become, the place where the strong subdue the weak."

The encyclical, Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth) is a theologically dense explication of Catholic social teaching that draws heavily from earlier popes, particularly PaulVI's critique of capitalism 42 years ago. And echoing his predecessor John Paul II, Benedict says, "every economic decision has a moral consequence."

FAITH & REASON: Experts say pope's economic views draw from politics

Issued days before his Friday meeting with President Obama, the pope's views here are "to the left of Obama in terms of economic policy," particularly in calls for redistribution of wealth, says political scientist Thomas Reese, a Jesuit priest and senior fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

The encyclical also echoes Benedict's many speeches, saying that to reach sound a global economy every responsibility and commitment must be rooted in the values of Christian truth.

Without that, he says, "there is no social conscience and responsibility." Neither, he says, are mere "good sentiments" enough. Human progress requires God, and today's choices concern "nothing less than the destiny of man."

Although Benedict says the church has no "technical solutions to offer," he asserts that religion has a role in the public square. His very specific suggestions on the economy, ecology and justice are addressed not just to Catholics, but to everyone, from heads of state to household shoppers.

According to the encyclical:

•Labor must be safeguarded after years of rampant market forces leaving citizens powerless in the face of "new and old risks" and without effective trade union protections.

•Elimination of world hunger is essential for "safeguarding the peace and stability of the planet," and the problem is not resources but their inequitable distribution.

•"Demographic control" through an "anti-birth mentality" that promotes abortion and birth control "cannot lead to morally sound development." He blasts those who support abortion "as if it were a form of cultural progress."

•The environment is "God's gift to everyone" and we have a "grave duty to hand the earth on to future generations" in good condition, says Benedict. He laments, "how many natural resources are squandered by wars!"

•"Financiers must rediscover" ethics and not use "sophisticated instruments" to "betray the interests of savers."

•Consumers, must "realize that purchasing is always a moral — and not simple economic — act." In this context, the ecological crisis is seen as a crisis in human ecology.

"The pope is saying you need just structures and people who act justly," says Steve Colecchi, director of the office of international justice and peace for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. "He's calling on every level of society to be rooted in an ethical vision of the human person."

The "true world political authority" that Benedict calls for should keep solutions as simple and local as possible but still create solidarity for the common good.

Reese notes the "strong language here on the redistribution of wealth — not something people like to talk about in the USA. If the Catholic right is against the redistribution of wealth, they're against the pope. He doesn't believe an unregulated marketplace is going to solve all the problems of economy and poverty."

Kirk Hanson, executive director of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara (Calif.) University, praised Benedict for including an emphasis on "life ethics" as "essential" to a healthy social and economic order.

Lew Daly, senior fellow at Demos, a New York City-based public policy organization and author of God's Economy: Faith-Based Initiatives and the Caring State, praised the text as "a turning point for the church and particularly for the American church, because our nation and our society is both the epicenter of wealth and the epicenter of inequality.

"Nearly half of the world's population lives on less than $2.50 a day and nearly 80% live on less than $10 a day. In the meantime a relative handful of corporations and wealthy families have grown rich far beyond the greatest emperors and kings of the past.

"There may be growth, but a faithful Catholic does not call this progress, the pope argues, until the growth is more equitably shared according to the design of the Creator," says Daly.

Rev 13:11-18

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those[e] who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or[f] the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

The number of the Pope is 666, deriving from VICARIVS FILII DEI (Latin for Vicar of the Son of God) on his miter. Prophecy is being fulfilled.

Though I may not agree with everything on the site below, the following seems to be a quite sound explanation - http://www.remnantofgod.org/666.htm#vic

PROPHECY IS BEING FULFILLED!

Very interesting DIVYA. I like when people do research. There is clearly a lot going on in this CRAZY world. Thanks for posting, I will look into what you've posted closer when I get the chance. THANKS again!

Yes, this is very real. Our Pastor has preached along these simlar lines. I tell you this when this really hits the fan. My faith and trust is in the Lord! However, as Christians we must be so proactive and do research as well.

This is real. My pastor spoke about it right after the funeral when they showed that video and it was (Michael Jackson) a distraction so they can usher these new laws in. Everyone wants peace right and they all desire for all to "get along" and MJ death was a catalyist to get people thinking, that we are the world we are the children, no matter what you believe we should come together. Just like those Twin Towers it ushered in a new way of securing our nation. Now all your business is out there. Something new pops us we got to look behind the curtain to see what the real deal is. He (the pope) released this encyclical right around the funeral of MJ. Who was not looking at the MJ tragedy?

This is something amazing, this just goes to show you how blinded the world is and it will be even more.

The one world order has been in the bible for centuries, people are looking out for it, and now it's on our doorstep it's being mentioned by world leaders, not even trying to disguise it's name global/world/order religion etc... and not ONE leader stands up to say hey isn't that dangerous?

And even people they know about it, christians, non christians, and a lot of them will end up accepting it, some christians too... even some who one year ago would scream against the world order, they'll go for it

I used a year ago to think "man come on people are not stupid, ain't no one gonna accept a one world order, everybody under one man? one religion?" it was impossible for me to fathom that....

but now?... it's terrifying, u can show people by A + B they will not react, that's how powerful Satan is, he is in total control and man the end is soon, better be ready for when Christ comes back smh

Though I am completely agree that the world is easily distracted from the real issues, I would not say that Michael Jackson's Death was a "cover-up" (as if it was a planned conspiracy for him to die so they could handle NWO business). This was a opportunistic type of event.

Prophecy is fulfilled. This is scary and humbling at the same time. I can see many being deceived because the things the encyclical states do not appear against Christian values at all. Many how do not know their scripture will receive the mark in ignorance. Others will receive the mark in fear of not having their basic needs meet. I just pray that I am still alive when this occurs, I have the faith to believe the Lord will supply my need and not government.

Thanks for posting this. Very informative.

I agree that one can easily be confused regarding the encylical because it "seems" to be Christian based. We all know that people perish for lack of knowledge.

Just wonder how soon all of this will take place.

Please keep revelation coming.

Thank you for this post. This is all very scary. I will have to read up on this more. This ties into the book I'm reading called Behold a pale horse.

Wow :nono:
